We went with Rickshaw Travel for a 1 week tour of Costa Rica definitely not enough time!. Overall, the trip was amazing in terms of the places we visited, animals we saw and the culture we experienced. We went to Tortugero, Cahuita and La Fortuna. Suizo Loco Lodge in Cahuita was fantastic and we can highly recommend. We loved Costa Rica and we would happily go back! We've given Rickshaw Travel three stars because although they did a good job organising the trip and we had no issues, we felt we were let down by the following:- 1. We spent almost 2 days travelling between places because we had to pick up other groups along the way, change buses etc. This was not communicated to us we were told what time we leave but not journey time in the itinerary so this should have been more clearly indicated. If we had known we would lose 1-2 days of our trip just on buses then we would have adjusted the itinerary to only do 2 places. We felt Rickshaw Travel could have advised us better on this and we could have had a much better trip in the short time we had. Looking back, we probably only would have done Cahuita and La Fortuna and perhaps organised our own transport between the two areas which would have been so much faster. 2. Hotel Monte Real in La Fortuna - this hotel was awful. Right by the road so very noisy, room basic and the hotel itself dated and tired. There are much nicer places to stay in La Fortuna especially up towards to the volcano so we were unhappy with this hotel when there so many others that were much better
Very friendly, enthusiastic staff. Not quite 5 stars as I had to phone to follow up emails that did not receive a quick response and I'm not really sure the various agents I spoke too conveyed to each other the actual requirements/wishes we had of a wildlife centred holiday and our dislike of standard city/beach resorts. Partly my fault as I should have research the package they were putting together more thoroughly instead of accepting their professional judgement. We did have a great holiday and the interesting choices the agents made gave variety.
Very helpful in planning my future trip abroad.... Quick to come up with ideas and suggestions.
Never heard back from them, went with another company!
