Husband loved the mussels starter but we were disappointed by the fish and chips. Fish was nice but chips average and didn't like the tartar sauce. Price was fine though and location. Nice decor too.
Should be renamed Rick Stein Fish & Chips and Burger Bar. Flag ship lobster main dish was unavailable on our visit. Wouldn’t choose to do a 2 hour round trip for what is essentially a basic generic menu otherwise. Pretty sure Rick Stein didn’t make his name selling burgers... :
Slightly disappointed with the menu which seemed to have less options than other Rick Stein’s I have been to. Also some things had already run out even though we were eating at 7.30. However burger I ordered was nice and staff very friendly and helpful.
Tasty fish, the batter was light and crisp, well cooked chips but the mushy peas were a bit dry and the tartre sauce was average, decent portion size, drinks were pricey as expected but good service, desserts limited but the lemom posset was delicious- overall decent value during the Help To Eat Out incentive
I've tried twice, in the hope the first time was uncharacteristically poor. Sadly, it really is overpriced tat. The competition in Falmouth is too strong to bother with stein's.
The takeaway has delicious fish - perfectly fried cod. Worth a special visit! You can sit on the outside tables behind the restaurant. The other choices on the takeaway menu are a bit left field - you can get curry or burgers too. Seasoning is all single plastic sachets unfortunately.
