Love riding at Stag Lodge even in the winter rain! Richmond Park is such a lovely place to ride with well-maintained bridle tracks. The staff are friendly and professional - and a special mention for Robyn - fun, always positive, and a great instructor. Some good riding & stable friends too - not least - some super horses - what better way to spend some time!
Great place for lessons, can’t think of a better venue in which to learn, other than traipsing through Richmond Park. Teachers are patient and caring, giving the kids time to get to grips with the horses. Very relaxed and friendly. Doesn’t feel like they are doing things by the minute. They really are there to help the kids get the most out of it.
Martha’s a star – it’s a joy hacking in Richmond Park with her! I’ve been riding with Martha since just before lockdown and learnt so much from her – about riding, and about horses and caring for them. She’s given me confidence to ride different horses, when my all time, fav Luna, retired, and has def extended my skills. I’ve been riding at Stag Lodge for nearly 10 years, taken the BHS 1 assessment in riding, yard work and safety, and for me, few other current instructors rival her professional approach, knowledge of horses and ability to share riding skills. Winter, spring, summer, and autumn, I’ve been out with Martha in all weathers, large groups and small, and on private hacks! And some lovely off track rides in summer months –fun pub rides and in fancy dress. She’s always professional, makes rides fun, but also a learning exercise, and I always feel safe. She’s a highly accomplished rider, and has to contend with mixed ability groups, and sometimes difficult riders and difficult horses – always with good grace! Pls more rides with Martha…she’s the best!
It’s such a privilege to be able to ride in beautiful Richmond park. Stag Lodge Stables is great, there is always a warm welcome from the staff and the horses are beyond wonderful, I have been more than lucky to ride out with some of their incredible instructors. Martha is just phenomenal, an effortlessly balanced rider with a great love and understanding for each of the horses, always positive, professional and takes great care of everyone who rides out with her. Another incredible instructor is Robyn, she is such an amazing, bright and joyful person who looks after everyone who rides with her. Riding here is the highlight of my week, always makes me happy thank you
Absolutely love Stage Lodge Stables! Instructors I’ve had have been excellent, and horses well turned out. Highly recommend! The instructors cater for all abilities, which is great! Have been using Stag Lodge Stables Stag 1 in conjunction with Stag lodge 2 to experience both Hacks over Richmond park, and improve riding ability. A big thank you to all the staff, who have been so amazing with both me and my other half. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
We had our daughter’s party here on Saturday. They had a ball either riding on a pony or grooming! The staff were great with the girls and taught them not only safety around horses but how to care for them. A well organised and fun hour. Week done Stag Lodge.
Stag Lodge stables are definitely the best place to ride in London! The horses are absolutely amazing and the staff is super friendly, fun and very well trained. I can say with experience that they are best place to learn to ride as an adult! Everyone is so encouraging and try their best to help you develop as a rider. My Saturday advanced hacks there are the highlight of my weekend!
Big thanks to the Stag Lodge Team. Hacking through Richmond Park is a highlight of my week. The horses are happy and well-looked after and the trails through the Park are just beautiful. A special thank you to Jemma. She is an accomplished rider, a superb instructor and a great companion. After decades out of the saddle, she has given me the confidence to ride different horses. She makes every hack instructive, relaxed and immense fun. As we hack around the park, she has given me tips on how to improve my riding and shared her knowledge of everything from horse psychology, horse health, horse care to show jumping and dressage. She is a superstar.
Very happy to recommend Stag Lodge Stables! I’ve been taking my three-year-old granddaughter for regular pony lessons at Stag Lodge 1 since last summer and she always has a brilliant time. We usually go out with Lizzie, but have also had lovely rides with Summer and Zakia. Lizzie is very sensitive to my granddaughter’s mood and energy level, sometimes we just have a relaxed ride, but Lizzie is always ready to try something new and inspire my granddaughter’s confidence when the time is right - such a great way to build a foundation for happy riding experiences. The ponies are absolutely delightful - I’m in love with all of them. My granddaughter started with lovely Harry and then Fudge, and now she’s been out on fluffy Pippin a couple of times. Something different to learn from each pony and they are all adorable. Thank you too to kind Lucinda who manages everything so beautifully, and all the friendly staff there. Inspired by these great experiences, I made my way down to Stag Lodge 2 to take up the reins myself after a break of 50+ years from childhood lessons. I didn’t remember much! so started on a lunge lead which I’ve been able to leave behind for the most part and and am now gaining confidence with trotting. I’ve had fun and positive lessons with a number of the instructors: Anna, Becca, Eve and Toni. All of them kind and thoughtful, they see different things to teach/correct which makes up in some way for the lack of continuity with a single instructor. As at Stag Lodge 1, the ponies are just delicious. I’ve had happy lessons with sassy Ariel recently, but lovely rides with Daisy, Otto and Fortune too. I’d be there every day if I could.
My daughter and I ride every week in the park with Stag lodge. We always have a great time. All the instructors are great and very helpful. This week we had our best hack ever with Lucinda. We had 5 lovely canters. Lucinda helps us to improve our technique during the ride but ensures we have a fun time. I would recommend riding with stag lodge to anyone.
