Every year I order my birthday cake's from Richard's Cakes Always Happy with the finish and they taste yummy. The staff are always helpful and The Cake is always a talking point at the party's ! I never want to cut it they look so good ! True Cake artists

Ordered a personalised cake. Costly but Cake was good. On the day when we went to collect the cake, we felt it had not depicted what we exactly wanted. When we requested some minor  but important  changes, we were made to feel really really unwelcome as if why we had asked for changes When we kept asking, they did change some bits but the work done was not very good at that time and so we just stopped him at this one change only So not really upto expectations for a nearly £200 cake

I initially chose to use Richard's Cakes because of the quality of the cakes on the website which looked amazing. Judging by other people's reviews they received brilliant quality cakes which is what I was expecting...I didn't get this at all.  The sugar paste model was dreadful and looked like it had been made by primary school children, the legs and arms were lumpy and mis-shapen, the "cats" looked like some sort of indistinguishable animal, and worst of all all the wires were all stuck out of the model at the back. It was a very poor quality job and I was extremely disappointed with this. The way my complaint has been handled was equally abysmal - the shop "manager" needs to go on some sort of customer services training as the way this was dealt with was awful. Initially she tried to say that "all cakes are made by hand and everyone has their own style" which was laughable, because the style of this could only be described as shoddy, rushed and unprofessional . I was then told that "we are clearly not going to agree so I suggest you take it up with a 3rd party" as the final outcome. After speaking to the owner who also tried to say that it was just the "style" of that cake maker I have still got nowhere and I am being fobbed off, with no choice but to pursue this through the small claims court.  Have a look at the pictures of the cake I received and decide for yourself whether you would part with £110 for this!! I was told by the shop manager that "some of the staff in the shop thought it was really good" so this is obviously what good looks like to them.  When I challenged the fact that the wires and things were stuck out of the back I was told that "nobody sees the back of the cake" by the manager!!  I sent the pictures to their Facebook page with no comments other than "here is a picture of my husband's 40th birthday cake that Richards Cakes made for me" and surprise surprise, they haven't approved the photos so they're not visible. I wonder why?! They don't seem too keen to show off the "personal style" of this particular cake maker publicly!!  Judging by the fabulous creations on their website, the chances are that your cake will turn out to be perfectly fine and professionally decorated, but if it's for a special occasion that you don't want to be ruined then you may not want to risk it , as the quality is clearly quite hit and miss.  They've also dealt with the complaint in the most ungracious manner ever and I feel sorely disappointed by the entire experience. Wouldn't use ever again I'm afraid

Cake tasted ok but the model on top looked like a child made it out of play dough, lacked detail and looked a bit scruffy. It wasn't designed how i asked. very expensive for quality of work. didn't look anywhere near as good as the cakes on website. I had a very disappointed child on her birthday. Staff were rude when i contacted them to discuss quality of cake. won't waste my money here next year!

I ordered a cake for my in-laws' golden anniversary over the phone and when I picked it up it was exactly what we wanted. An amazing cake, beautifully presented and my in-laws were absolutely delighted with it. And best of all, it was delicious. :

Richards Cakes is a true artist with years of experience as a pastry chef and chocolatier to back up their innate talents. Lucky for me, I was savvy enough to find a more fulfilling cake at a much more reasonable price.  Do your research guys!

Ordered a cake for the opening night of a play in the shape of the stage and the set and the characters, and I was blown away by the brilliance of the work. There is a lot of talent at this place with friendly service and an attention to detail. Can't recommend highly enough.

we recently bought a cake from here for a 21st birthday, it was a replica of the manchester city stadium, i must admit after reading some of the reviews on here I was a bit concerned as i had never used the place before but I need not have worried, it was absolutely AMAZING the work that had gone into it was excellent and it is the nicest tasting birthday I have ever had, well worth every penny, would reccomend them highly, one thing I would say if the owners of the shop reads these reviews is that you should change the picture you have on line to a newer version as the one you are showing does not do the real thing justice.

Thanks for the 2 cakes I ordered recently, they were above my expectations. See you next year.
