Overall, a strange stay at this hotel! Food excellent and room lovely, but the whole place is being run by just a few young members of staff. To be fair to them, they tried very hard to look after us but were clearly too stretched. Hotel was a bit tired, front doors not working, nor lift. Ordered rose wine at dinner only to be told after about 15 mins that they didn't have any. Ordered a white wine instead and when it came, it was warm! Waiter said that they had forgotten to chill the wines! Said that I wasn't paying £25 for warm wine and, to be fair, the cost was deducted from our bill as a gesture of goodwill. The head waiter went on to explain that the hotel is experiencing some difficulties after having only recently reopened after a period of having asylum seekers staying there who had wrecked the place! He then went on to tell us that the hotel manager had just been sacked! Not sure this was exactly what we wanted to hear, but at least he was honest about why the hotel was in a bit of a mess! Breakfast food was good but lots of people asking for things that weren't there, such as clean plates/napkins/ketchup etc. Overall, the staff really were trying their best in clearly difficult circumstances but it seemed such a shame for what could be and maybe once was a really nice hotel. We couldn't bring ourselves to try the spa and pool area, as feared the worst! Hotel clearly struggling so we won't be back until issues have been well and truly sorted. Maybe a hotel manager will help!
Had A Truly AWESOME Full Body Aromatherapy Massage by Therapist Dawn, last Wednesday. I HIGHLY recommend her! Thanks Dawn x
Okay but could not access pool or gym till 9.30 so had to leave, what's the point of paying extra for pool if you can't use it.
Lovely swimming pool but occasionally the facilities are out of order. Still makes for a revitalising trip. The pool is always a nice temperature and I believe the water level is at 1.2m throughout so great for those who are learning to swim.
Was really excited and looking forward to this stay, a pitstop before the wedding we were attending the next day, however this hotel stay disappointed on so many levels. Firstly, tired, in need of some TLC and updating, throughout and in the rooms, I cannot believe this cost £160 for one nights stay. Safety deposit box did not work, even after reporting twice and apparently being fixed. Swimming pool mediocre. Floor very slippery and dangerous. Breakfast the next morning, slow to fill the empties butter, scrambled eggs self served looked horrific and factory made. So we ordered poached eggs which took 30 mins to arrive. We were lucky to get a high chair for our son but overheard another guest asking, only to be told that was the only high chair what hotel only has ONE high chair in their restaurant?. High chairs are simple and cheap to fulfil. Go to that massive Swedish shop and you'll find many. Restaurant was under staffed due to sickness which was beyond hotels ability to manage. Lots of guests waiting for a long time to be seated. Overheard many guests complaining about their stay. Such a shame that what was supposed to be a luxury stay at a spa hotel, turned out to be a parody of Fawlty Towers.
