I would strongly advise against selling your items for cash here; they are very dishonest and will tell you they are selling your items for less than they actually are. The lady at the woman store is much more knowledgeable and professional than the "guys" at the means store. One even said he questioned the "authenticity" of my Gucci shoes. When I took the same shoes two doors down the lady buyer same company she said she would pass on them because they are a little too worn. Are they worn or fake? Im confused. LOL! The mens store also passed on a Coach bag that the lady buyer at the women store purchased for £52! It's actually disappointing how unprofessional and rude those guys were. They said my Gucci was "too worn", I took this photo on the way out. This is what they're are trying to sell people. Yet my classic vintage designer shoes are 'too worn'.
The women working here are horribly rude. Arguing with each other, failed to greet you and one pretty much pushed past me, and cursing regularly. There were five women working there all at the same time, too, in a small shop. Being busy was not the issue. Only three customers in the whole place. The clothes weren’t well curated and seemed over priced on the most part. Far better resale shops other places!
Buy things from here but don't sell them. The women hide it from view then tell you a total for the lot. They literally did this with my Hermes scarves and offered me £100 for like 10 designer items
Been popping into this shop every so often for the past few years. The staff aren't the friendliest, but I'm hardly bothered when there are so many gems to occupy myself with here granted, I've only ever bought, not sold, so the latter experience may differ. Over multiple visits, I've seen current season pieces, niche brands and plenty of big designers. Prices vary, but there are plenty of good deals to be found if you have a keen eye for that sort of thing and know that prices do get slashed over the weeks, if you're willing to take the risk!
I firstly went to Retro Men next door to sell some items arriving at 3pm only to be told that the buyer had not arrived yet and was expected within the hour. I took my clothes next door to Retro Women where the buyer ignored me during her appraisal of my clothes preferring to talk with her colleague not drawing breadth throughout the process. Incredibly rude. She ended up offering me £15 for seven shirts and a zip up sports top - all practically brand new. I left without selling. This shop and its staff are symptomatic of everything that has gone wrong in Notting Hill - stuck up, entitled and a total rip off.
I used to come to this shop all the time, the old staff were lovely. Now, the people that work there do not know the word customer service. They were so rude, grumpy and their version of politely asking the customers to prepare to leave as it is NEAR closing time was to talk about customers rudely in front of their face/other side of the changing room door, to their colleague upstairs over the phone and then proceeding to make them awful about purchasing an item, when they are paying at 8:01. If I didn’t like what I was buying I wouldn’t want to give them my business at all, and I won’t ever again, unless retro women get a new set of employees. Having looked at the reviews, I’m not the only one who has experienced it. Retro women can wave any profits goodbye if they keep it up!
Cute store with fair price sold some of my mum stuff here and where appreciative of were I was coming from and what I needed the money for
The girls working at the counter downstairs where you want to sell your clothing are plain rude and rip you off. I went with a full IKEA bag’s worth of clothing and only had three pieces that were ‘up to their standards’ when in reality the majority of my clothes was in perfect condition since I had barely worn them. Not only that, my clothes were of high end brands and still it was ‘not worth anything’. The girls will rip you off giving you only 10% value when it should be upwards of 40% - I hadn’t realised until a worker from a different shop told me otherwise and I only got 6£ for my clothes. If you want to sell your clothes, do it on your own account or find somewhere else!
You come here for one thing; the DEALS, a lot of second hand designer places will sell very worn items with holes or major flaws this place DOES NOT, you won’t find Gucci jackets with shredded disintegrating linings and no buttons here and I hope that standard never waivers. The prices are always super reasonable and reflect the condition of the item. This store buys clothes, you are selling direct to retail and you will be given wholesale prices - that’s just business, baby. The negative reviews are all left by salty sellers surprised that they’re not getting £100 for five year old “designer” COS jumpers. As for the staff, I would have an attitude too if I had to deal with some of these rude AF people, kudos to them for not allowing entitled hags talk to them however they want, if you want to be rude and still get your a** kissed go to Harrods and pay Harrods prices.
The two girls working downstairs at the counter are the most useless people I have ever come across. They know absolutely nothing about their job ! They take credit from customers and put it on their own books, even the joint shops had nothing nice to say about these two nasty girls.
