If I could give zero stars I would. We were renting a property in earlswood. Our land lord was seriously neglectful and after over a year of dealing with black mould and a leak, the ceiling fell through. We had to move out in mid October because it was uninhabitable and the black mould was airborne. They have now sent us a bill for £300 and told us it’s due in 8 days even though we are paying for another property. Apparently as the landlord said we didn’t officially end tenancy until December we still have to pay. Very rude people on the phone, they showed no compassion and did not help at all. I ended the phone call very tearful being told I still owe £300.
I had an issue with a council tax debt following a job loss and medical issues in 2024. The advisor I spoke to was kind, empathetic and did everything within her power to help me. Finally getting back on track and very grateful for their understanding and support.
There are two people in charge of us new residents, their names are David and Amir, they are the worst people I have ever met in my life, just empty talk and bad treatment and no help or advice especially the one called Amir is very bad and very bad and rude, his treatment of us is condescending. I don't know why such people are assigned to deal with us, newcomers who have no information about how things work here in the UK.
Terrible council. Impossible to get hold of and even when you do they chose to not respond.nnAn individual known as Paul Butcher working for them seems to be a one man band choosing who to reply to and when. It took him 4 years to respond to an email.nnIf you’re reading this post and thinking about moving into the borough, I would advise against it as I’ve never had such bad service from the council as I do now. The council tax is also extremely high.
Male staff member on the morning of 22nd May phoned council tax number was extremely rude. He didn’t even listen and hung up the phone. I had to call twice to explain the situation but it seems he couldn’t wait to get off the phone.nI also sent in an online query two weeks ago but no reply. The line is also open only until midday so it’s hard enough to contact them as it is!
