From the outside the station is not welcoming. It looks like an abandoned office building rather than a railway station. It could do with a facelift. Swindon has a rich railway history, it's a shame that the station doesn't reflect this. There are regular services across South Wales, the South West and London. Services can be very busy at most times of the day. There are benches, although not enough for the amount of people who use this station. There are bins and information screens on all platforms. There is also a WHSmith after the ticket barrier in case you want any expensive food while waiting for your train. The station does have step free access to all platforms via a lift. It has audible announcements and tactile markings. There are staff available throughout the day for passenger assistance.
Shall we put up clear signage for things like how to find disabled parking, or to show where the really not obvious entrance to the station is? No, it's better to let people struggle and walk round in the rain. Honestly, not welcoming or disabled friendly. However, I have given two stars instead if one as when I found my way in and a member of staff, they were very helpful.
the bus station was not clean and had homeless on site... toilets were closed
Welcome to Swindon! Shame the outside of the station looks terrible with a disused office block with boarded up windows. The station itself is quite nice with sheltered waiting areas, toilets and food outlets.
Staff are friendly and helpful but need more windows open in peak times.
Switch off the dumb repetitive public announcements which make less than zero contribution to keeping people safe: "when on the stairs, please use the hand rail"
I've lived here all my life and seen Swindon expand yet keeping allot of accessible green areas and paths. Safe routes for cyclists to cross the town and travel around some of the towns other green areas and natural places for walks and kids activities.
Cycling through Swindon on the old railway line and canal is great. But the one way roads make it difficult to get across town by bike and difficult to get to and from the station.
Very pleased with the whole thing there are a few roadworks but it is improving
Neat place with clean facilities. Very helpful staff
