I came here for the roast and was pleasantly surprised. The portion sizes are better than others, although 3 courses will run you around £30 a person. There are additions such as cauliflower cheese that are very nice, but were a little expensive. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the environment within is nice. I would recommend it, especially if some other local roasts had portions that seemed a little small.
Typical above average gastro pub of which there are many but must mention the staff here. It was a hot busy day and just 3 front of house ladies who were absolutely charming, attentive and friendly. Making time to chat and regularly ask if they could enhance our experience in anyway possible. A big thankyou from us for a lovely afternoon
Great pub, lovely food, really friendly staff. Had a working lunch here today and had a very pleasant experience. Staff were really accommodating and their service was excellent. Food was really good. Multiple fish and chips, and sandwich combos. All very tasty and great portion size. Stayed for a couple of hours after in the bar to continue working and was made to feel very welcome doing so. Cannot thank you enough for a very enjoyable Friday afternoon at work.
Once again, The Queens College Arms succeeds in proving consistently great food. Perfectly cooked, wonderful presentation and good value for money. Our meals were delivered piping hot, and very quickly. If you want a traditional Sunday roast, in beautiful Hampshire countryside surroundings, you would be hard pressed to beat this great English pub. Well worth the trip out. We will happily visit again and again!!
We haven't been in ages but it was lovely being back. Great food, great service and nothing too much trouble. Thank you.
Took family for Sunday lunch. Meal was perfect. Had roast beef pigs in blankets and extra cauliflower cheese. Then pudding. Staff where brilliant food came out hot and in good time. Daughter had kids meal and she was very happy and plate was clear.
Could be a nice pub but every time we book a meal they always run out of items. Even when we have booked at a decent time well before the kitchen shuts. This puts me off trying again as it’s happened three times now. A pain when you have three children. Especially when staff wait to tell you until you are ordering. Thankfully we’ve managed to get booked in else where. Such a shame as we’ve been for other meals other than Sunday lunch and they have been good. Get it together kitchen! You let the side down.
Very enjoyable. Food very good except beef a little tough and also perhaps not quite enough pork. Crackling was delicious! Puddings lovely. Staff friendly, obliging and efficient. Will certainly go again.
Very disappointed. Came with a group of girls for our Christmas Dinner. We have been regular customers for years and have always had a gorgeous time. Not last night. Very dry food, not enough gravy or sauces. Roast potatoes were dry and tasteless, sprouts were hard and bouncy, Yorkshire pudding tasted like cardboard. I didn't eat most of my main, which is not like me. One of us asked for more gravy but service was so slow, she had almost finished by the time it came. Had to ask for more cranberry sauce too as portions were so small. Dessert was not much better. We asked for more custard but ended up turning away the hot sticky pud as it had gone cold and there was still no sign of the custard, despite reminders. We mentioned this during and after the meal but no-one seemed that bothered or apologetic. All in all a very disappointing night. After years of lovely times at the QCA, we may not come back. Sorry.
A pub that is as well kept on the inside as it is on the outside. After a long day of walking, the pub was a welcome sight for sore eyes and sore legs. The interior was the cleanest that I ever seen any pub look and the service was enjoyed. The fish and chips hit the spot though I did have buyers regret as the beef shin with mashed potatoes also sounded like it would have hit the spot on this windy and sporadically rainy day. It was noted that they also provided water bowls for any dogs that wandered in and had a lovely fireplace that would look cosy when lit. Thoroughly enjoyed!
