Very friendly staff, great service. Good clean room, very comfortable bed. It's very unusual for me to get a good nights sleep. No problem at The Punch Bowl. The location is excellent for a base from which to travel to the myriad attractions in the area. The food is truly excellent.Rooms: 5/5

Called in for a drink and takeaway dinners after hearing excellent feedback from friends. Found pub warm, welcoming and friendly. Staff were polite and helpful. Pub was full and customers were enjoying their socialising. Atmosphere was top notch. My wife and I felt at home even though it was our first visit. The pub has something for every age group, food menu was extensive and we will let all our family in on our find and we'll definitely be back soon. Only gripe is no real ale on tap? John smiths and Guinness only but loads of lager choices. Get a porter or Stout in and ill be there everyday.
A very good Sunday lunch. The food was cooked perfectly, massive Yorkshire pudding. The portions are large,and sadly left no room for a desert. We've been many times before and had food from the menu, which is always good. The staff are attentive and friendly. We live nearby so it's a gem for us.
Staff are always friendly and welcoming, food is always nice and good size portions. Never had any issues and would highly recommend. Nice bar area, big beer garden, parking. What more do you need Service: 5/5

Room was nice and clean and modern. Unfortunately, it turns out our room is frequently used by scientists to test how objects and people cope under conditions similar to the sun. Our room was the oven and we were the unwilling bread. It would have been colder to nip down to the local kebab shop and take a quick dip in their chip fryer. Fans must be at a premium in the north east. As a southerner, I feel I was more prepared for the heat but a cold-conditioned, frostbitten northern would probably have melted on the spot. In the morning, after having not slept at all. I noticed that there was a fella in the corner of our room selling ice creams and dolphin excursions. My point is that the room was obscenely hot and opening the windows did nothing but satiate the mosquito overlords. Nice room though
Open mic night every Thursday with Alan Knights and Barry Holmes is a blast. Loads of local talent playing for free. Very friendly atmosphere staff and punters. Food is amazing, with a wide ranging menu and tapas available. Good beer, lager, wine and spirits selection. All in all, a really great pub. Well worth a visit.
Recently been for Sunday lunch and it was really lovely with generous portions. Yorkshire puddings were amazing. Excellent service and value for money. Staff were very friendly & helpful especially the waitresses Paige & Megan. I would definitely recommend a visit.Service: 5/5
