We got recommended to visit this place as we enjoy our Tea's and Coffees. Ive never been to a tea room where you have to queue to get in. And theirs a lot of tables, that alone told us its going to be great inside. We was not disappointed. We visited the shop after, again great value. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The food and drinks were maybe slightly more then your high street coffee shops, but the individual experience you got, the fresh pastries and drinks and decor was worth it. When I say slightly more, maybe 10% more so not silly not made to feel rushed. Would we visit again? Yes we would Would we recommend? 100% we would
Betty's Tea Room was recommended by a couple of people before my visit to York. I made this Silver Service Tearooms my location of choice for my Christmas Eve Dinner. I queued for around 30 minutes, and the queue was very well managed by a cheerful young lady. There was a separate queue for their shop. As soon as a table for one was available, she came and plucked me from the queue and showed me to my table. All the staff were helpful, friendly, and looked fabulous in their attire. I had a fabulous experience, Jasmine Green Tea, Turkey Escalope, and a Gooey Rascal for afters. I did treat myself to another Gooey Rascal from the shop for my Christmas Day dinner. I was seated on the ground level seating. There was seating downstairs too. The facilities were located downstairs and again did not disappoint. In keeping with the luxury of silver service, they were super clean. The venue was definitely suitable for all the family, including the dog. There are accessible facilities available too. I would definitely recommend this experience. It's absolutely worth queuing for.
A beautiful tearoom located in central York. I was recommended to go here and on my visit to York, managed to stop by. We were in a queue for about 20-30 minutes, but the service was good. It was beautifully decorated inside, and we got some unique blends of tea, along with cake too. Personally, the prices were a little expensive so I would not come here again, but it was an amazing experience and more of a one off thing for me. If I could afford it though, I'd be here all the time!
Just arrived Betty’s Cafe Tea Rooms York … Top notch, friendly smiling service. Nice piano player for us… We booked a table highly advised Definitely recommend to book a table as you are almost certain to join the long line that’s almost always at these world famous tea rooms. Best in the world for afternoon tea. Sandwiches are divine, scones are too so are the cakes! Highly recommended!
Visited Betty's as an anniversary treat with my wife and it was such a great idea. The location is central in the city centre of York and the building and atmosphere inside was just lovely, apparently themed around a luxury liner, it is just a beautiful decadent venue. We had the Champagne afternoon tea and it was as expected, lovely well made sandwiches and perfect little cakes and a couple of small but amazing scones. We were allowed free refills on tea and another plate of sandwiches with no charge. We paid the extra fee for another glass of champagne. Perfect for couples and families, it is just a lovely few hours that I highly recommend.
Betty's is a beautiful iconic tea room in York that my parents took me to regularly growing up in York. I went back for the first time recently, after living overseas for many years, and it is still an amazing place to visit. He decor is beautiful, the mirrors downstairs signed by the soilders during the war are still there. The service was outstanding as always, although not quite the same now Alan has retired. Drinks great and the cakes are still out of this world. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. Can't wait to return next time I'm in York.
We had a lovely afternoon tea experience here. We had to wait for about 5 or 10 minutes, as it was a very busy Saturday afternoon. Service was very friendly & expedient. The tea service, finger sandwiches & sweets were all tasty as well. One of the servers shared the history of the property with us as well, which was very interesting. All in all we had a great experience here.
Very cozy and warm atmosphere for a cup of tea. The queue was about 30 minutes, but the tea and food made up for it. Some of the best scones I've had in the UK. The food presentation was very well done as well. It was Christmas season during that time so the tearoom decorations were very beautiful as well.Food: 5/5
If you haven't been to Betty's Tea Room you haven't been to York . It was so nice to be able to enjoy a lovely breakfast there this morning. Of course, you're expected to queue or be an early bird and being an early bird there still may be a queue. The food was always amazing, and service was great. Efficient and friendly service from the staff. The place is very nicely decorated and there's a great variety of choices on the menu.
It didn't take us long time to wait for the seat. The earl tea is one of the greatest that I've tasted in UK. Yet, the scone didn't meet my expectation though it is still good, especially with the cream. As to the Yorkshire egg custard tart, I won't recommend it because personally I prefer crunchy taste. Overall, you can give it a try.
