Very sadly now closed down. The Portway was a delightful time machine back to all the good things about restaurants in the 1970s + 80s with none of the bad. Good to have real Italian waiters giving you backchat. The food was great. I loved the proper dessert trolly. Sad to now only have happy memories of the place.

Booked 1 month ago for a special birthday.  Re confirmed the booking on Wednesday which eventually was found by the rude unprofessional staff members.  14 of us turned up.last night after travelling a long way to find it in darkness with a small notice on the door stating it had closed for business on Friday night 25th!!!  This ruined the birthday and cannot believe they never had the decency to even call to let us know.  If that Is their usual manor then It is for the best they stay closed and the owners find another line of work.

Musty place. 1970's decor. In need of some love and attention. Food ok but the scallops were clearly not fresh. Menu massive, needs to slim it down. Nice silver service for the veg, etc. Old school Italian.

Lovely friendly greeting, very obliging and helpful .The food was excellent all three courses. We will definitely be returning when back in the area. we would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Made a booking about a month ago for my fiancee's birthday and turn up at the booking to find the place has closed its doors. Shame as it was a good restaurant. Poor they didn't let us know..  :

Booked a table for six people for 8 o'clock, wasn't even seated until 9-30. Didn't get any food before 10 pm. I was not happy

Best real Italian chef in town and Italian waiters too Italian food like moma used to make :

Warm welcome, food delicious, always my first choice restaurant.
