Have come here last few years for our birthdays in Feb.. Wonderful drive up to Portevede marina from Glasgow. Long for the out door heated pool and hot tubs with views that are so good for the Mind..it's like therapy..this year able to swim out side under the Best starry Skye I have seen in years.. Heaven.. my daughter's 8yrs old and loves it here too ..accommodation great lodge or cottage...facilities at leisure complex wonderful . Hoping to be back before 2019 x

Portavadie is a great location, it has spectacular views across the water. The cafe and leisure centre is very welcoming. You must try the infinity pool of you visit, but don't worry if you forget your swim costume as you can buy one at this location. It is modern bright and airy.

Popped in to book a Spa day and had the most amazing steak sandwich on sour dough bread. A good vet could've brought that steak back to life! So tasty!

Modern marina, hotel, self catering accommodation and restaurant complex in a beautiful spot at the western extremity of the Cowal Peninsula. Very high quality. We were shown round accommodation, and had one of those lunches you remember, all expertly prepared and served by friendly staff.

This place was nice but it was not at all as expected. The bar restaurant is just some tables in the lobby of the lodge hotel - really not great. The pool was overrun with children - would have thought there would be adult only time at the very end of the day. The spa that you pay allot to access is simply one very hot room with a big window, a steam room, a sauna and a tiny little pool with water jets. I was turned away from a massage because of my diabetes (nonsense, I have had them in a bunch of other places before). I asked for medical reasoning and they conveniently couldn't find the book that told them why so they made me pick something else. So my relaxing massage i had gone miles away for became a bit more of a stressful event. I was told they would discount the cost (having already given me back the extra my original treatment cost) if they couldn't find a medical reason. Sure enough when we came to pay at the end of the trip it had been discounted - but an apology or acceptance that they were wrong wouldn't have gone a miss. To be honest i would have expected them to come back with a list of free slots for the next day so i could remake my appointment for the treatment i had came for had i chosen to spend the money on it. When it came to dinner we ordered and suddenly realised we were almost done with our bottle of wine and had yet to have food arrive. We were about to chase up on that when a waiter appeared and apologised for the fact that our check had "got lost in the system" so he had put it back on and was sorry. We were happy to have waited but an offer of a few drinks or a slight discount wouldn't have gone a miss given we had been waiting a very long time. The food was delicious though. The room was also really nice. But really the negatives far out did the positives.
