Incredibly helpful folk who have got me out of a few pickles while renovating our old/ new home. Also managed to re-affix my bicycle pannier for a snip. They seem to possess a ton of useful things. Pop in and ask.
This business has been around for such a long time, it used to be in a different part of the road many moons ago but they've pretty much stayed true as a hardware shop. Odd things you can't or won't get elsewhere these days, things your grandparents used to use, and they've also moved with the times. In the old days bags of coal would be on show, today its compressed eco logs. And its good that you can buy the silly little things as a one off item. I really like this store for their key cutting service, it's really good and very well priced. Parking can be had right outside the shop if your lucky, if not there is other on road parking and zebra crossings. I cant say the shop is exactly wheelchair, disabled or buggy friendly, many of the shops down that road are still what you might call "old timey", but don't let that discourage you. The staff have always been more than willing to come out, and will very likely know what you're looking for by pretty much any description you can give, and be willing to help, they're just from that era. It was quite a shock to see they now accept card payments, it's not touch and go so you have to remember your pin!
I urgently needed a replacement nut and bolt to reattach my mudguard and reflector that fell off on my home last night, I didn't want to buy a box of 50 of each, and quickly what I needed was found for a very reasonable price. I didn't see fork handles, or rubber 'O's on sale but they probably were. Sadly a dying breed, but I'll be back when a need arises and I recommend them to you too. Use them or lose them.
An Aladdin's cave of bits of all sorts, 2nd hand and new: whatever you need, just ring the knowledgeable staff. E.g. box of individual ratchet-socket spanners, Imperial and metric, just 50p ea. and tons more.
Handy little shop, friendly and helpful staff
REFUSE TO REFUND FOR FAULTY KEYS. Do not get your keys cut here, they did a set and two were cut wrong, went back 3 times and they tried to recut the same set, they closed at 4 so had to go to timpsons. Went back a 4th time the next day and they refused to refund for the faulty keys and proudly boasted that he has never given a refund.... I like to support local business but with dishonest situations like this what can you do.
The single worst shopping experience ever. Owner was rude and aggressive, and screamed threats at me down the street when the key he cut didn't work. This is now a police and trading standards matter. Avoid at all costs.
Great little shop, a Pandora's box. Stocks everything you could ever ask for, no matter how odd. Friendly people and good prices too.
Excellent old fashioned hardware store. Have bits and bobs for all your DIY needs at a price cheaper than B&Q and in my case online.
Nice for some small things lots of hand tools, not much for gardening, but is locally owned that's always a great thing to support!
