Polo 24 Hour Bar

About

Open 24/7, Polo Bar is the Great British Cafe est. 1959 serving home made food & alcohol 24/7. Famous for the Best English Breakfast in town

Story

It’s not fancy, it hasn’t got a Michelin star; however the quirky Polo Bar has been a much loved fixture opposite London’s Liverpool Street Station for over 50 years, serving great quality British cafe fare to hungry City worker, commuter, builder and hard working policemen and women from the Bishopsgate Police Station two doors down.

It remains one of the very few London caffs that is still family owned and continuous to serve one of the best quality and value for money breakfasts in London – at any time of the day or night! A truly traditional London institution that offers the best of British.

Heard so many good things about this place on Instagram. Happy to say that it's absolutely worth the praise heaped on it, to which I am now adding! Went for brunch with my friend here on Sunday morning just before I headed to get my train home at Liverpool Street. We were seated pretty much immediately - I think we got there just before people roused from their lie ins which is worth bearing in mind as the queues can be out the door on those times! But the queue is worth it. Really delicious food, the all day breakfast I had was absolutely stunning, good value, same with my pot of tea as well! My friend had the FLT toasted sandwich and really enjoyed that and his cappuccino as well. Friendly service as well even with how busy it was. You can tell it's a family run place, loved all the vintage decor too. Definitely think I'll be coming back again when I next visit London for the weekend!
Surprisingly good for a city that isn't open 24/7 I came here primarily for a drink and was not dissapointed. The bartender made me a whiskey sour, then a cocktail or the week which he created himself. Both were fantastic, especially his cocktail of the week. I was hungry so I ordered a vegetarian sandwich. Considering that it was past 1am, and this is England after all, the food was not bad. Considering the hour, the staff were cool as well. Next time I'm in the area, all the hard are closed and I need another drink, I'm coming here
Went here for a date per the recommendation of a well known London website. It’s located in the heart of Liverpool St. which meant it was easy to meet my friend. The food was pretty bland. I ordered Cajun chicken and fries, what I got felt like it had come out of the oven. To give this place its upside, the cocktails were BANGING! So tasty and delicious! The staff were friendly and were always helpful.
A wonderful surprise with great food and impeccable service, plus, fair price! Joe is the best, a friendly and super attentive person! Shepherds pie is amazing, flawless! I came for dinner and I definitely want to come for the Traditional English Breakfast A must go, or, must eat!
Having travelled all the way from Norwich to London for 'brunch', I had booked a table at the Polo Café. The photos of the cafe layout are misleading. Spread over three levels with a ground floor take out, the narrow building layout leaves cramped seating arrangements for customers eating in. There was a warm welcome from staff downstairs, who directed us up stairs and to a specific table. Once upstairs, I was greeted by another member of staff stood behind a kitchen counter, who directed another member of staff to seat us in a different table. Once seated, it is a game of Tetris or snake to get up to use the toilet or get ones food placed on the table. For London prices, I think it was good value, £20 for the mighty breakfast. One member of staff remained behind the counter, while another member of staff seemed to be rushed off their feet attempting to handle all tables. At other restaurants and venues in Norwich, I have had far larger breakfasts living up to the name of 'mighty'. After a 20 minutes wait for food, my food was warm at best, and my friend who ordered eggs Benedict found hair and egg shells in his order. A good venue for someone reaching London Liverpool Street station wanting Breakfast. However, I feel if I did return, it would be for take away, not seating unless it was at a quieter time.
Came in for brunch yesterday around 13:30, didn’t catch our waitress’ name but she provided amazing service, super friendly and chatty which is rare in London. Portion sizes were very generous and the pancakes were amazing. Definitely will come back if we’re in the area.Food: 5/5
There was nothing wrong with our dining experience, but I am giving the restaurant a 3 star because the food was average tasting and we were sat in an extremely cramped area. They tried to fit as many tables as they could in a tiny area. The food did come out super fast though which was great because we were really hungry. Service was good.
This place was unexpectedly brilliant. We had a cheese and ham toasty, cheesy bacon chips as in fries for non-Brits.decent portion and realt well done and a fish finger sandwich battered fish, delicious - the star of the show!. The oreo shake was really good and super well blended not grainy at all and the tea came in traditional brown betty teapots with cups and saucers and a cute mini milk bottle, which was a beautiful touch we really appreciated. Other people's food gave us food envy too... it was excellent value, especially considering it's opposite Liverpool St. Station. The menu is wide-ranging, and there is a huge selection of deserts, cakes and pastries too. Service was fast and friendly and our food came really quickly. The decor is very quaint British and retro, but with a modern twist and the booths remind me of old fashioned pie and mash shops. Genuinely so impressed with this place, it's so different on the inside to the outside one of our party said he'd passed it loads of times and never came in, but would now!. They are open 24hrs and serve alcohol too cocktails are 2-4-1 every day from 4-10pm. What a find! Will deffo be back. In fact, I can't believe this place isn't rammed with tourists - it should be! Kid-friendliness: The kids were made very welcome and they had no problem with them sharing food/drinks.
Great food and service. Millie was our server and she was so sweet, she seated us really quickly and made sure we weren't waiting for food or drinks. Food was delicious and good value. Coffee was good too.Food: 5/5
I just did a delivery order breakfast of choice and this is what I received chips look like they have been there for months and multiple times cooked mushrooms are just half boiled mushrooms how they do the pre preparing and they haven’t even cooked them at all in grill how it’s supposed to be in a breakfast. And the scrambled eggs I received were basically plain no salt nothing in them plush toast super dry nearly broke my teeth . Soooo disappointed from what I sow from pictures when I decided to order at this place and what I received
