Had many stays at Dalkeith, they have upgraded the Ice middle Tina pasta (thank god) and for a brief time, a nice lady was serving tea to the inmates while we were processed through onto court the next day or after the weekend had you been unlucky enough. I remember it was just a question, “do you want fed or not?” It wasn’t a choice, first time this happened I thought it was a joke he asked the usual question followed by, “what would you like?”, “chicken curry, pasta Bolognese or sweet and sour chicken”, to which I jokingly replied, “aye ok”, to my surprise the custody officer actually brought me sweet and sour chicken, and I began to question, I thought maybe I was drunk and sang like a bird to have this sort of treatment. But apparently it’s standard now.

Uncomfortable beds, grumpy staff and terrible/non-existent breakfast. Avoid!
