Called in on a reconnoitre as we had booked a meal for 2 days hence. What a find!!! Extremely helpful lady behind the Bar. Very helpful. 10/10 Had a Great Meal and shall definitely return. Very helpful team at The Poachers Pocket. Unfortunately the landlord is leaving at the end of January.
When I go out for a meal I'm not a fan of having to order at the bar I'd rather someone take the order. Also when asking for a diet coke I'd like to be told that its pepsi there is a difference and i will happily have something else. Food was nice and puddings lovely
Our first visit today, but won't be our last. Traditional pub in a rural setting. The staff are very friendly, the food is lovely, and reasonably priced. Would happily recommend.
Food was served lukewarm with no call back to check if everything was OK. Products used low end with no thought to presentation. Pub had bar staff more interested in drinking thier own products than looking after the customers. Carpets threadbare and place could do with a good clean. More of a drinking pub than a place to eat.
This was such a beautiful place to stay - it is a bed and breakfast where the staff give you such a lovely welcome, it is a dog friendly place to stay. The staff work hard and greet you with a smile as they say good morning, good evening etc. Even the dog was welcomed with a treat. They leave tea, sugar, coffee, bottled water in your room and milk is available in flasks in a nearby fridge so you can make yourself a cuppa when needed. The room was bright and clean and white towels were laid on the bed when we arrived, it was a lovely place to stay that's why I gave it 5*.
Lovely food and well priced. Had a great roast. Don't expect anything gourmet, just honest and tasty food. Gets very busy so would suggest booking ahead.
Decent food with large portions. Lovely staff. Best to book in advance as it can get quite busy!
Absolutely fantastic food all the staff were friendly and efficient and the landlord is brilliant recomend a visit we travel to meet family
Afraid to say had quite a poor experience here. Had to pre-order our meals due to the large family booking which is fine, ordered a kids meal with peas. It arrived with Beans which happy to accept a communication error on the phone call but when we turned the meal away and said we asked for peas as the child didn’t like beans it was quickly brought back out to us stating we’d ordered beans so you’ve got beans.... no offer to swap or or an invitation for a side order of peas for the child. A photo included below of my heavily over-microwaved lasagne too, very disappointing overall.
Great home cooked local pub food. We booked last minute and had a lovely meal. Top notch pub grub!
