Excellent service, dog friendly and first class food!
Great food and excellent staff never been let down even booked a table for next night out with friends
What a find!, Excellent service from Harry, lovely atmosphere with excellent food. The steak was absolutely perfectly cooked with great flavour, stilton sauce was lovely, with gorgeous home made chips. Looking forward to our next visit
Visited The Plough on the second day of opening after the lockdown restrictions eased to outdoor dining being allowed 13th April visit, around 5pm. Service was good , tables were nicely spaced apart, little one enjoyed his children's pasta and ice cream. Hubby and I ordered a rump steak each, cooked medium rare - when it arrived it looked OK and we were busy sorting the little one when the waitress came over and asked if everything was OK so we just said yes... anyway once we cut into the steaks they were red and bloody more rare than medium rare which wouldn't have been the biggest issue but the cuts of steak were also quite chewy so we didn't really enjoy them. Paid upfront due to the situation with outdoor eating in the pandemic so didn't get chance to raise the issue. We were sat outside on a picnic bench in the sun which luckily it was a glorious sunny day but if it was night time or cloudy then it would have been different - didn't see any areas under cover or any outdoor heaters or anything like that... staff wore masks and all customers did too until at tables. Tables were spaced out quite well which was nice - it wasn't crowded... Overall we enjoyed our experience there and put the issue with the steak down to it being so soon after reopening and maybe supply issues too, we would revisit and hopefully get a better cut and cooked steak next time! Shame as it seemed a lovely restaurant and the staff were really friendly and helpful - we will be back at some point to give them another chance... we are new to the area moved during lockdown and are making our way round the restaurants and trying to find a new favourite :
Took friends who came to visit from down south for a meal, have'nt been for years to the plough we had a fab evening, the food was amazing the waiter Harry was lovely and very accomodating we had such a laugh with him he took so much banter off our friend in extremely good spirit ! You won't be dissapointed the place has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming & friendly. Our friends could'nt rate it enough & said it was top of their list for favourite places in the north !
We have eaten here before and had lovely food, but yesterday lunch was terrible I had lamb kofta this was very dry, my husband had ham ploughman's this consisted of ham, bread and cheese some lettuce, what happened to all the other things that normally would be on a ploughman's like pork pie, pickles etc. My grandson had chicken nuggets at £6.25 for a kids meal was ridiculous, 4 little pieces of chicken ,fries obviously frozen and beans he only ate a few fries and some beans. I complained to the young guy who took my money, he just looked at me and made no attempt to tell management. Will defo not be returning here absolutely disgusted with the quality of the food
Lovely little pub, called in for lunch mid journey, very welcoming, courteous and friendly staff. A bit too blustery to have a go at the 12 hole mini golf course out the back though.Food: 4/5
Great party food! My party was very happy with the quality of the buffet and attentive service. Bravo Vegetarian options: Homemade hummus and canapés
Have had the pleasure of visiting a couple of times and have not been disappointed. Welcoming, friendly staff, lovely venue and atmosphere, with a varied menu full of delicious food, all cooked beautifully. This is a gastro pub well worth the visit and a definite asset to the local area.. Well deserved 5* from me.
Went recently for a family meal with 6 adults and 2 young children. Staff were very attentive and accommodating to our needs. The food was ready and brought quickly, with the children's meals brought with the adult starters as requested. The food was very nice and everyone said they enjoyed their meal. Although there was an error, and one adult order was missed, it was made and brought out quickly within 5 or so minutes once the mistake had been realised by staff and we received a sincere apology. The atmosphere and decoration also adds to a nice experience. Would definitely return here.
