Visited at 7.30pm on a Saturday night, we're bored of takeaways and with it being 2 for 1 the price wouldn't be much different. Excellent choice on the menu, classic pub meals with some different twists thrown in. Staff are really helpful and friendly, a nice change compared to some other places with almost mechanical staff. Food was spot on, I rarely order steak out because I'm usually disappointed but thought I'd take a chance and I was actually amazed by how well cooked it was, and had a lot of flavour for a pub steak. The 2 mains came to £18 for both, I would've struggled to cook them at home for less, and when we got the bill I was surprised to see it was only £16 for a sauvignon I would expect to pay £23+ for. After avoiding the place for 5/6 years due to continuous bad experience, I can safely say it's unrecognisable as the same place and we will be returning regularly.
Came for food this evening, when we arrived the lady behind the bar said to find a table and order at the bar, once we sat down I realised the table hadn’t been cleaned, I looked past it and thought maybe they had been busy. Until I looked at the ones around us which were also full of salt and generally unclean, which it was evident clear. We sat down and realised no tables had any menus, we had to find them ourselves. We ordered food and drinks at the bar as requested. Starters came which were passable. Battered mushrooms and cheesy garlic bread. The lettuce with the mushrooms was starting to brown so didn’t look as appetising. Our plates were cleared but not once were we asked if our food was ok or if we had any comments working in hospitality myself I know this is a big must and it’s a chance for guests to give feedback We then had mains gammon and a double beef burger. As these arrived we had to ask for condiments as none were offered and there was none to be seen. The gammon was under satisfying and the burger just tasted like it was a cheap burger from McDonald’s, very little taste. Priced at £16.95 for each meal if I was to pay that I wouldn’t have been happy. I understand we paid £16.95 for both meals as it’s a 2 for 1 but the food alone wasn’t worth what we paid. We have been to other marsdens chains and have always had a lovely meal. It’s a shame as I paid £35.00 to walk away leaving half of my food and with very little hospitality off the staff.
Turned up at opening time to find a fully prepared, clean and friendly pub. Food was perfectly cooked. Menu was chain pub style with a few quirky additions. Would definitely recommend. Servers Zodie and Gerri were polite and friendly. Chef Ryan
Went there for a quick get together and a quick meal. We only order burgers and chicken burgers nothing fancy. It was delivered to us on what looked like a children's bowl, literally a burger and some fries, my chicken burger was OK, hard in places, most definitely a frozen one that was cooked, I wasn't impressed, I don't think any of our party will be going back, it's a shame as it used to be really good there.
From entering the bar till leaving your staff certainly made us welcome. Interactive at all times, smiling and genuinely ensuring we enjoyed our time. The choice of lagers was limited but did find one to suit, the Pepsi max was fine and then the food, nicely presented and fairly well cooked. Overall Carys and Chrissy did everything right!
Hunters chicken.... a picture tells a thousand words but baked/poached breast, single piece of re heated back bacon with some bbq sauce smeared over at the end which coincidentally I also got as a dipping sauce for the 4 rubbish bits of scampi on my surf and turf. No cheese either? We won't be rushing back here.
Staff lovely chicken starter was amazing. Unfortunately, the steak that I gave to my daughter for her dog was not edible. I paid for sirloin, but it was worse than rump. More like offal?
The lady in the front of house team was fantastic, really welcoming and delivered good customer service. Food was prompt. Chips were a little bit sparse and the menu was a bit limited but otherwise a good experience
Staff very helpful and polite. Food really good. Good choice for what we wanted. The place was very inviting and looked very clean. Overall, 10 out of 10.
When we arrived the staff was very welcoming and friendly. It was not overly populated so getting a table was easy. We ordered our food using the QR scanner on the menu. The first time I visited I had the cowboy burger. If, like me, you love meat this is perfect. This time I visited I thought I would try the ultimate burger. Wow, I was not disappointed! The patties are cooked perfectly, the pulled pork is soft and suculant and the cheese sauce and jalapeño just add another layer of flavour. The location of the place is not ideal as it means we have to drive to get there and it is quite remote. This could possibly be a bonus for me as a consumer as the chef can take time and pride in their work and the quality of food and drink is on point. I just fear, given the current climate, I may lose something good I have just found if the business doesn't pick up and is forced to close its doors. For my own selfish reasons, I urge anyone who reads this to get to the fieldfare, have a great meal, drink plenty and enjoy the hospitality... plus it has a kids corner for them to play so peace and quiet for adults.
