The new and improved visitor centre is really good. Perched up above and overlooking the dam it’s full of detailed and informative displays which kept the family occupied for a good while. Our son loved the generator display where he was trying to get the lightbulbs to illuminate. The dam itself is impressive when you think of its age as it’s been generating power for many decades.

Modern visitor centre with helpful friendly staff and multimedia displays telling the history of the dam. Nice food on offer in the cafe/restaurant and amazing views over the river. There are an array of walks but quite a lot of steps to get from the visitor centre to the salmon steps on foot, not negotiable with a pram, but you can walk through the village and round or drive to get to the other side

Really nice little visitor centre right on top of the dam. Wonderful little shop, cafe and a science museum like display about the workings of the dam. The dam itself has some glorious views. Definitely worth a visit

Great centre for learning about sustainable energy. Interactive displays and videos of how the fish ladder works. Top-notch cafe too.

Pitlochry is a popular tourist destination with good hotels and shops and has a dam where salmon could be seen to navigate a water staircase to the loch at certain times. There is also a visitor centre at the dam. Pitlochry is a good base for scenic areas around central highlands.
