How wonderful my experience of Penryn surgery has been today. Today I was on the receiving end of a call from the fantastic Dr Kahane, he took the time to explain all aspects of his diagnosis in detail that I fully understood. He had a solution for us that we were happy with and made sure the prescription was sent to a location convenient for us. He had an excellent balance of professionalism, friendliness and empathy for our situation. I’m incredibly grateful for this response during what I’m sure is an incredibly busy time. Thank you so so much to you for the hard work you do.
I received a call very quickly which was good, but I feel I was rushed on the phone, the doctor was quite dismissive and rude when I suggested something I had researched for my symptoms. I was prescribed things I don't necessarily want to take and not any other options explained just told that I will be sent links. I understand you may be busy and over worked but it's truly horrible feeling like a number when your health is troubling you. I appreciate be called back so soon and the care given but I feel this system is failing it's people.
Absolutely furious! I opted out of having the flu vaccine for my 3 year old and expressed this clearly to the person on the phone when I booked him in for his boosters - she said she fully understood and that it was my choice, that she would book him in just for his boosters. My partner took him in for these today & have just found out that they also gave him the flu vaccine whilst there my partner was uneasy too but assumed that I had given permission as they gave it to him. I specified 'NO' to this when I booked him in for his boosters. The nurse needs to check when the vaccinations are being given, what permissions have been given. And if it wasn't added to his notes when my request was definitely understood, seemingly appreciated & respected, and noted at the time of booking the vaccines, then WHY?! The NHS/surgery were relentless in text messaging to remind me that he hadn't had his flu vaccination. And they have now vaccinated my child against something which I categorically said no to when I made the appointment. I will be contacting the surgery tomorrow. Furious
I recently had chest back and jaw pain for a couple of weeks, when this became accompanied by breathlessness I went into the surgery which was extremely quiet for a change. I explained my symptoms to a very helpful receptionist who emailed a GP. Given that I am menapausal and diabetic my heart was a concern. The receptionist agreed that I should at least have an ecg. However an hour later I was told the doctor had said " we are not a drop in service " the receptionist spoke to a practice manager but the doctor would not budge. I had to go home and a paramedic from the surgery rang me to suggest I attend A&E. So this surgery is happy to block up the hospital but will not see a registered patient with a suspected heart attack . I despair with the GPs at this surgery. I have only found one who speaks to me like a human being. I feel discriminated against and I will make an official complaint. However, how sad that someone who feels very vulnerable should be made to feel so irrelevant at a time when they turned to their doctor for help and reassurance. A lot of the GPs at this surgery are egotistical. I hope that they get a taste of their own medicine one day. In the meantime I will continue to escalate my complaint until they are made to listen. .
Online booking system is a joke ! What if you don't have the Internet! Need medication and I can't get it !! Will be moving surgery soon, shocking service my son went there today after begging to be seen with a infected ear ,spray given but has a wax ball pressing against the ear ,up all night in agony !! Waiting for a call from a doctor now to get it looked at ,when the doctor at the surgery could of done this earlier ,bloody useless the service they provide !!!!
Been a patient here for over 20 years & have always received excellent care but today i tried to book an appointment to see a nurse to have my ears syringed an ongoing problem for over 30 years to be told that i first have to book an appointment for an assessment then another appointment to have the ears done. What a crazy waste of NHS time & resources at a time when they say they are struggling with staff shortages & appointments are at a premium. Also it means I have an extra unnecessary uncomfortable wait to get the problem sorted.
Dont care about peoples mental health or physical health also asked for medication 2 days before xmas oh we will ring you back to collect it now have had no medication since 23rd dec thanks penryn doctors wonderful xmas ive had
appointments are scheduled not for specific times but they give you a four hour window in which they might call. If you do not pick up the phone immediately they call again not immediately after but at the end of the day. This means that a person has to constantly watch their phone all day to be able to get help. It doesn't work, as most people have activities they do throughout the day and have little opportunity to sit with their phone all day.
I can't believe the staff manage to be so friendly considering the stress they must be under, had a really lovely GP and didn't feel rushed at all.
Booked an appointment to have a cyst drained this morning. From the receptionist, to Dr Hackett, the student and the nurse, the whole team were fantastic. Friendly, reassuring and professional from start to finish. Thank you all.
