Quite a large garden center selling quality goods. Has a spacious cafe , the food looked delicious but we only had a drink. The hot chocolate let it down not milky enough. Large seating area also outdoor seating. The plants looked healthy and it has a vast planter selection and a number of different composts. Sells bags of different gravels and stones which i thought were a bit dear. There is a butchers which seemed popular in the foodhall , plus bird stuff, outdoor furniture and clothing sections. There are a few internal shops too and a selection of fancy goods. Well worth a wander round
Went here with a friend of mine a little while ago to have a look around, I'd never been here before so didn't know what to expect 'apart from the obvious' being a garden centre and all, my friend had talked about Pennells and thought I'd enjoy a wonder around...Wow enjoy...I loved it!! I didn't realise that there were so many different department store's under one roof, as well as an amazing garden centre, we spent hours walking around, you see I'd just moved into a bungalow and needed some 'homely thing's' I ended up buying curtains, bedding, cushions, even treated myself to some new trainers, I tell you this place is amazing, there's just so much to see!! After a couple of hours we were bushel wacked so went and had something to eat in the restaurant which is also within the complex, again I was not disappointed the food was terrific, well what we chose from the extensive menu, but whilst looking around at other tables, there's looked just as scrummy, all in all it was a very pleasurable afternoon shopping, if you've never been to Pennells....I'd definitely recommend you go have a look.
First visit for several years and WOW what a difference a day or several hundred makes. Ample parking with wheelchair/step free gentle gradient access to the entrance. The store entrance is cleverly staged making it welcoming with hand sanitation available. And it is warm. Greeted with an array of cacti, air plants and others you need to pause and take in the vastness to decide which direction to take. Pleasantly lit with wheelchair friendly wide isles you can browse mile of isles until your hearts content. Or to the point you need a decent cuppa tea. And that's what you get in the restaurant. Spotlessly clean with modern well made furniture, the seating is area is vast and service is quick. We did not eat but the cup of tea was very good by any standard. Toilets are spotlessly clean with all the basics you would expect being plentiful. Its huge and its all on one level. It is spotlessly clean and stocks probably everything you would need plus more at a sensible price. Saw less than half that was on offer after feeling unwell part way through so when spring arrives we will return. Just over 35 minutes from Grimsby, its a place you cannot afford to miss.
Great butchers. All the plants you'd ever want. Dropped 2 stars as it's like God's waiting room. Don't visit the cafe on a weekend. The OAPs are out in force. Bu the time they've reached the ordering point they've forgotten what they were there for. Overall though I got what I needed. Plants were excellent. Very well grown, strong, doing well
The Restaurant offers a wide range of food, breakfasts, main meals, afternoon teas, as well as the opportunity to book in advance for small and large groups for special occasions, all reasonably priced, excellent value for money. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly, helpful staff. Definitely worth a visit.
Popped in here while staying at the hotel next door. Christmas Heaven!!! What a beautiful store with everything you'd want! Loved it and spent too much money on Christmas items. Even though an hour away from where we live, I can see a trip back soon.
This is an excellent garden centre with all the things you would expect, with the addition of a large clothes shop area, The Works, a decent shoe shop and a fantastic local butchers and all kinds of food items. A top notch cafe with lots of seating and lovely food just make this a MUST visit place if you're in the area.
Really nice garden centre!! I just visited after they had put out all the Christmas items. They have a huge selection of Christmas decorations and had 3 singing reindeer. This wasn't my first time going to Pennels and have been countless times in the past, however this was the first time I had visited the restaurant/cafe and I was extremely impressed by the size and amount of seating. The queues were pretty long to wait to be served but we had attended at a Sunday lunch time. Accessibility was great, there wasn't really anywhere I couldn't go with a pram/stroller. I will definitely be visiting again in the future.
Christmas all in one place. Never disappoints. Brilliant restaurant, friendly staff, lots of different things to buy. We have been going for years, especially at Christmas, but good all year round
We've been visiting for years and always enjoy it around Christmas time. A good selection of plants, clothes and Xmas bits. The kids also enjoy it! Oh and the food is decent!
