I would like to start by saying the staff members were more than accommodating and absolutely lovely. I planned a proposal during my stay with my now fiancée, and the hotel was more than happy to help make the experience extra special by assisting with the planning.nnThere was a moment during the planning process where I felt overwhelmed, and after speaking with the hotel team, they were incredibly understanding and helpful about the whole situation, which I really appreciated.nnOur room was absolutely amazing — it felt like having our own private space. It was spacious, luxurious, and had a gorgeous view. Room service was also super fast. Even on one evening when we were told the kitchen was extremely busy and there might be a wait, our food arrived very quickly.nnThe swimming pool and hot tub were also lovely and provided a perfect, relaxing way to unwind before dinner.nnBoth restaurants served absolutely stunning food.nnBreakfast was delicious too. Personally, the cooked options weren’t quite for me, but the cereal, fruit, and yogurt were fresh and really enjoyable.
All in all very good.nnA nice facility, friendly and helpful staff.nnThe room was comfortable and clean, bed was comfortable.nnRoom service was quick and efficient, food was pretty good. They forgot the mayo not vital, but the devil is in the details.nnShower was slow to drain.nRoom door was stiff so needed to bang it shut.nnWould still recommend
Myself and two friends stayed here for two nights in February. We had single rooms each and theyvwere very comfortable . Breakfast whichbwas included was very good and freshy made with lots of choice . Dinner in the Grill room was very good also and reasonably priced . The leisure centre is very good . Nice big pool with steam rooms and jacuzzi. It was quite busy as the school hols were on but not bad . The views from the hotel are fabulous and the charming town of Peebles is only a 10 min walk away . Parts of the hotel are a little tired but there are lots of positives for this lovely Hotel .
I’d like to share my experience at Peebles Hydro.nnFrom time to time, when my girlfriend and I have the same days off, I book a room and she comes to visit me. The atmosphere at the hotel is always special — very cosy, romantic, and even a little exotic. It’s a fantastic place to relax and spend quality time together.nnDuring our stay, our room was cleaned by Lyudmila Kucher. She did her job very carefully and thoroughly — everything was perfectly clean and neatly arranged in its place. All surfaces were spotless, including the bathroom area where shampoo and toiletries were kept, and the room was well vacuumed. You could clearly see her attention to detail.nnShe was also very friendly and polite. The service was excellent — 5+ from me!nnHighly recommended!
Caution for first‑time visitors: Peebles Hydro has no porters available to help with luggage on arrival. The steps leading up to reception are steep, and carrying multiple bags up to the registration area can be a real struggle. Thankfully, there is a side entrance that leads directly to the luggage elevator — something guests should know in advance, because it’s not signposted clearly.nnSecondly, if you arrive early and hope to check in, be mindful of which receptionist you approach. My experience with one staff member Chloe resulted in an unexpected £40 early‑check‑in charge, presented as an “upgrade” despite the room already being available. Use your own judgment, but transparency here would go a long way.nnWhat prevented this from being a one‑star review were the exceptional staff who genuinely carried the stay:nn• Brad, the night food manager, who made us feel welcome even during the busiest hours.n• Eilidh and Calum, consistently outstanding at dinner service.n• Findlay, whose bar service capped off each evening perfectly.n• Laura at the spa, warm and organised.n• Hannah, who took excellent care of my wife during her treatment.n• Ryan at the pool, who handled a tricky jacuzzi situation with professionalism.n• Claire, who sorted out our charges when the system went down.n• Pablina at the front desk, who was genuinely helpful during checkout.nnThe frontline team truly saved the experience — they deserve the credit.
