Great location and overall a very charming countryside estate! The staff were friendly, professional, and made the stay a real pleasure. The rooms were lovely and very clean. Breakfast was a real highlight, with a small but good-quality buffet and an à la carte menu included in the price.nnThe wellness area was nice but not exactly state-of-the-art. There are no common sauna areas, as the saunas are located within the separate male and female changing rooms. There’s also no quiet relaxation area and only a limited number of sunbeds by the pool.nnDinner could definitely be improved. At £50 per person for a two-course meal, it’s not cheap, so you’d expect a certain standard. The dishes sounded refined on the menu, but the food itself was quite bland and lacked depth of flavour. It felt like an attempt at fine dining, but the basics of cooking technique and taste just weren’t there. Overall, the hotel offers decent value for money, but don’t expect a cutting-edge wellness area, and I’d recommend skipping dinner.nnP.S. There’s also a golf course on-site, which we didn’t try given the season, but it could be a nice extra for those visiting in warmer months.
Beautiful hotel, with excellent service and friendly staff. Outside swimming pool with cafe/bar wonderful to sit by during these hot days. Spa massage ok. FOOD: Breakfast good. Room service sandwich poor, dinner poor. BAR: fabulous.nGolf: free to use whenever you want my husband did the course twice a day, tennis courts and croquet all add up to a splendid stay.
A favourite little country house hotel with excellent spa and small outside pool which was open but unheated in October maybe 16 degrees so for cold water swimmers really. Excellent massage. Food solid but not fabulous. Good value spa break.
A lovely stay with great staff and facilities. However, we were really disappointed with the food this time. The afternoon tea was poor quality with no sandwiches and very basic sweet things with no cake or chocolate themed dessert. The truffle pasta on the All Day Menu was very poor quality and didn’t taste of truffle.
We gather this hotel has a great reputation. Our taxi driver said it was the best in the area. Room was good, bed comfortable. Sound proofing from the small bar underneath our room not perfect but so long as you dont mind a bit of little bit of background till bedtime not a problem. Grounds are beautiful, facilities absolutely amazing. Eg Grass tennis courts!! Staff are very friendly and efficient; a strong feature of this hotel. Lost one star for the disappointing dinner. For the quality of hotel and price I’d expect a special meal. It wasn’t .For example my lamb was ok but not special - over cooked by some margin . My partners fish - average too. Perhaps we’ve been spoilt by other luxury hotels we’ve stayed at in recent years. Perhaps the main chef wasn’t working on the Sunday evening. The classic all day meal we had on our second evening was actually better. Breakfast was also ok but not special. Surely the croissants should be fresh every morning - which mine didn’t seem to be on Monday morning.
