We were in a lovely room in the courtyard, peaceful with no noise whatsoever. The room is very modern and had everything we could possibly need.nThe shower was amazing!nVegan breakfast was delicious.
We arrived at 6 for Sunday dinner, pleasant person met us and took us to our table. Got our meal which was nice but then sat for what seemed to be ages for anyone to come and take the plates away, and there was only four tables including ours being used . Then told there was potentially only one serving of a dessert, none of the one that we asked when we first ordered the meal and told “you order desert when you finish your main “. Service doesn’t match the prices in my opinion.
Went for lunch on Friday 10th May, party of two +baby. When we arrived we were told to sit anywhere by a miserable looking person in a white shirt hunched over the bar. When we sat another member of staff brought a high chair but no menus. We were asked what drinks we wanted very quickly but the staff member who took our order didn't know if they had any alcohol free beers or ciders so I ordered an orange juice, a blackcurrant cordial, and tap water. This staff member asked if I wanted ice and lemon in my water so was on that straight away but then disappeared. The person in the white shirt appeared some time later and offered an alcohol free beer and retook the blackcurrant order. When these were brought over the tap water was forgotten. All of this and we still didn't have lunch menus. We had to ask for menus eventually to find they were right behind our table, so really no excuse for staff not to hand us them as we sat. We were waiting an annoyingly long time to have our orders taken. We ordered loaded fries and black pudding bomb. Loaded fries were meant to come with roasted peppers, which apparently also includes courgettes? The black pudding bomb should have come with a fried egg which you expect to be soft. The egg was over cooked and we can only imagine this is because our dishes came out one at a time so that was left sitting under a hot light. We ordered two dishes, surely they could have been brought together? The black pudding bomb should have come with cabbage but instead came with spinach and spring onions. No cabbage at all and nothing said about this. We were asked once if things were okay and if we needed more drinks by the staff member who first took out drinks order. He then disappeared never to be seen again. Our plates were taken away without being asked if we wanted more drinks or dessert menus. We sat there with nothing in front of us for a ridiculous amount of time and not a single member of staff present. Eventually the miserable person in the white shirt passed and I looked up and smiled to catch his attention and he ignored me and walked away out of the restaurant. Eventually we got very impatient and as soon as he was back we stood up, paid at the bar and left. Food underwhelming and disappointing. Service appalling.nSat by a window as it was a hot day and all the fumes from cars coming in. Our own fault but they could do with installing air conditioning.
This location is perfect for a small peaceful getaway. The staff are truly faultless. The day staff and the night staff provide incredible hospitality. The food is simply to die for. I definitely recommend the Frickles. Location is mid tier because its very rural however if driving the town is a small 5 minute drive from this location. Dog friendly!
Nice hotel. Animal friendly. Rooms are big and clean. The staff are nice and helpful, and the food is good. Drinks are a bit expensive. I really enjoyed my stay here. Very impressed.
