The Oval Tandoori will forever be in my heart because me and my boyfriend had some great memories there. Their food was authentic and unpretentious and the vibe was chill and welcoming. The manager was great as well, once we ordered takeout and he delivered it personally to us, was a great man! Im so gutted that they closed down, they were a cultural landmark of the neighbourhood. I wish them all the best
The food is OK to the money paid not much delicious, the service by the manager is very poor. Least bothered about the guest. And it is not a Indian restaurant. They were charging extra for the take away plastic bowl. The side dishes are added in the menu but they don't serve it, even if they do they will show you as if did a favor on us. Choose wisely guys.
A bit grubby and the man running it hovers around so not much privacy. Got dreadfully flat Diet Coke for over £4 poured from a 1.5 litre bottle and when I politely let him know, he argued with me that I’m wrong. I didn’t drink it but he still tried to charge for it. When the bill came he had over-charged on several items. We were not impressed and then looked in his fridge at the bottle of Coke which was a year out of date! The mixed grill and Rogan were nice but onion Bhaji and tikka masala sauce not great. Shame he tried to con us and didn’t get a drink with my meal - ruined the evening. I wouldn’t trust him with anything. Bad taste left in my mouth!
My Partner and I have been using this restaurant for years never disappointed. I have allergies and feel confident even with a takeaway. Looking forward to another treat last was New Year
Food was great. I normally order takeaways from The Oval Tandoori on Just Eat, but I'd strongly recommend coming into the actual restaurant for the excellent atmosphere and friendly service.
Great service from start to finish, being made to feel very welcome. Brilliant food. The gentleman looking after us also suggested a couple of dishes that were superb. Would definitely recommend.
Very disappointed for the first time ordering from them. Delivery was supposed to be with us at 8.20pm called at 8.45 was told food still here, waiting for the driver he was not phased in any way or concerned the food was waiting there. Arrived 1 hour late. Food not warm. However more flavour needed, but best of all the food was not dripping with oil.
Ordered Chicken methi and kebab, and both tasted absolutely disgusting - it tasted as though the meat had gone off, as result I did not eat very much. I now have an upset stomach. Will never order again. Avoid!
This resteraunt has gone down hill. I used to love the food here, very tasty but I had a meal from here about 8 ndmonths ago and didn't eat it. There was no colour in the dish and just didn't look or smell right so I put it down to a bad night and decided to give it a miss for a while. Anyway I decided to have a curry tonight and nothing has changed. Very disappointed, it didn't smell right and didn't taste right what a waste of money. Won't be using this restaurant again,,
A recent visit was at odds with fond memories of a meal here years ago. Food is good for a local curryhouse, but service and customer experience is woefully inadequate. Upon being seated, the 'menus' we were given were glossy little takeaway menus - which should have set the warning sirens off. A simple and repeated request for tap water in addition to our beers was not fulfilled until right at the end of the meal, even though we were pretty much the only customers there, whilst the pungent smell of incense put one of our party off their meal altogether. Tables were laid out in an awkward way, meaning that the surly waitstaff had to squeeze past us every time they wanted to move through the restaurant. I would love to have a good local curryhouse - and the food served at Oval Tandoori gives it every right to be a four-star place - but needs to seriously up its game, and give its waitstaff an attitude transplant.
