Old Mill

About

Story

The Old Mill dates from the late 18th Century when it was a fully functioning Georgian Corn Mill. The building has had many transformations throughout the centuries, culminating in major refurbishment works in the late 1980's as a multi-function venue including a large nightclub in the cellar. It now stands proud as a Chef and Brewer offering delicious food and a great range of seasonal drinks, served by a committed and passionate team that have a desire to deliver great hospitality, proud to carry the Old Mill name...

Whilst staying at the Premier Inn next door, we tried here for drinks and a meal and we were not disappointed. The service was warm, friendly and professional. The meal was superb with good portion sizes, even though they were busy we didn’t wait long. The selection of wine’s beer’s and spirits was very good. Would happy visit here again, well done to all the staff for a great evening
Absolutely Stunning Sunday Lunches! Huge range of meats and vegetables. The Turkey melted like butter. There’s even a Sunday lunch for dogs. Highly recommend a visit but booking is probably advised. Big Thumbs Up
Great service. Lovely environment. Good food - cooked very well.
Lovely place, rustic, feel nice environment. Tikka masala chicken and steak, with sticky toffee pudding. Nice bottle Malbec. Definitely a place to return to.
Lovely. Really lovely. Great varied menu, fantastic staff Unrequested, brought a bowl of water for the dog dog friendly and a great building. Good location for motorway access and handy for the river and canal for a stop when walking.
Great pub we stopped at by chance to break up the journey. The staff were fantastic and catered for a large group of us with children and dogs. The pub was nicely decorated, had open fires and was really welcoming. The food was great, nice pub grub with great prices and the kids portions were huge! Thank you to team for looking after us so well and for a great beyond burger on my part! Would 100% recommend.
Four of us went for Sunday lunch at noon and, for me, it was a first at the Old Mill. We were greeted by staff and a wonderful smell of coffee at reception and taken to our pre-booked table. The flowers on the table and at reception were a nice touch and there was a low hum of conversation from other guests in the warm and very pleasant surroundings. I had the cod, chips, mushy peas with lemon wedge, and horseradish and caper sauce. The food was beautifully presented, without being over fussy, and the batter on my large piece of cod was beautifully crisp. All the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. It was very good value for money. Everyone on our table really enjoyed it and there wasn't a scrap of food left on our plates. Would highly recommend. Though it was my first visit, it will definitely not be my last.
The food we had was good and the service reasonable. We had booked a table for brunch at 11.30 and got there early at 11.10 waiting for other family members to arrive. The menus we were given on arrival were lunch menus and as we asked for the brunch menu were told we needed to be quick to order and had just 5 minutes, that the brunch menu orders finished at 11.15. As it was, there wasn't much choice on the brunch menu so some of us had burgers but the food we had was good. We will probably go back there as it's a pleasant place and a good mid-point meeting place for the family.
Stayed at the nearby Premier Inn for four nights, and used the Old Mill most lunchtimes and evenings, including a party for eight on Saturday evening. Always great friendly service, with good food and a nice varied menu.
Part of a large wedding group staying at the Premier Inn, we had a fabulous Friday night, dinner and drinks. The food was well above your average pub food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Drink service was fast at the bar and the staff seemed to genuinely care that we were happy with everything. Highly recommend!
