Had a fab meal here tonight. The staff were so nice. Food was delicious. Lovely stop in ten courtyard watching the yellow wag tail birds nesting. Dog friendly too.
Where do I even begin… Unfortunately I have nothing other than negative and disappointing feedback. A large group of us went for lunch at the Mill and ordered 2 sharing platters of meat to start and separate dishes for main course. Due to there being a large group of us we were sat in the hallway next to a dirty popcorn machine and a candy floss maker. Right from the get go the service was applauding, it took us 30 minutes to receive our drinks and an hour and 10 minutes to receive our cold meat starters. By which point we had all finished our first round of drinks. We had mentioned to the waitress at this point our starters had taken a long time to arrive and rather than being apologetic she rudely dismissed us and told us that wasn’t the case. We then received our mains another 40 minutes after the starters and quite honestly they were shocking, not one of us was happy with our mains. The homemade burger buns were drier than the Sahara desert, the burger meat was over cooked and poorly seasoned, the pizza and the pork were saltier than I am writing this review. After eating we asked to speak with the manager who was also one of the chefs. He began to inform us that he was extremely disappointed in us for not liking his food and didn’t care for our complaints. After this the waitress called one us a liar twice! Once the manager had finished telling us about how upset he was with us he walked off and refused to listen to the rest of our complaints. We asked if they would be happy to come to some arrangement on the bill and they were having none of it. Overall the service was awful, the staff were rude, the food was poor and atmosphere dull. 100% do not recommend unless you enjoy a ruined meal.
Lovely local place, started with a great coffee and improved further with a properly made pasta dish made with fresh ingredients that thoroughly satisfied, all rounded off with a wonderful pint and served up by a super landlord who clearly takes pride in his work. Wherever you travel from to enjoy this place, it's well worth the journey! :
Me and my friend went to the Old mill and ordered two pizzas for lunch .. came out and there was a hair on the pizza, no apology ! They took the pizza back and a second one came out quicker than the first so I believe it was the same pizza and was told it was a pork hair, again no apology and safe to say no fresh pizza. The service was not good and I found the employees to be rude about it. I do not recommend the old mill anymore probably why it has closed down so many times .. menu is not good and 100% overpriced for what it is. I didn’t even eat my pizza, was not asked if there was a problem or anything. Overall just not a good place to go to in my opinion and would not go there again.
Popped in today after a long dog walk around ashridge. The staff were more than friendly even offering my dog treats and allowing her either inside or outside. Only had a drink. But would recommend and would return again.
I had a great family birthday meal here last week! There is a lot of focus on locally sourced and fresh ingredients which comes through in the menu, the food and the legs of ham hanging above the entrance. We chose a lot of 'dough' based dishes, including foccaia / bruschetta / pizza etc., and the overall bread texture was really great, as was the quality of the other ingredients used! It's an oddly specific complement, but the texture of the bread was that good. Service was good throughout, and it was really nice that the chef came to greet us on the way out and gifted some of his homemade harissa paste that we were enjoying with our pizzas. His passion for food really comes through in the few minutes we spoke. The only disappointment is that it's a fair drive away from home to make a regular occurrence, but when I am able to revisit I'll be trying the charcuterie platter! Would recommend The Old Mill without hesitation.
Lovely place, little ones well catered for with tasteful play area. Lovely friendly staff and the food is delicious!
Excellent food. The salmon salad and pizza’s were fantastic. Efficient service
What a improvement from previous manager! Food was amazing, not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Had the 3 courses for £30, the soup was the best I’ve had! The bar man sorry I have forgot your name is great, chatty & helpful, came out between courses to see if we were ready for next course, the chef came & chatted about the food what a wonderful afternoon stayed for 4 hours! & the chocolate mousse is to die for!
I want to be able to recommend the new old mill since I admire the new owners efforts. The decor is really lovely and unlike other reviews it is more than needed and to a high standard. Remember how it had deteriorated - very different now. So first we had trouble booking since Google has the wrong telephone number and Open Table kept failing for some reason. Thankfully the new website has the correct number. Then the service was slow and needed prompting to take orders. Lastly the pizzas are just too complicated and fussy. I think some more regular selections would be better. I hope the new management take this review and others as feedback for making improvements. I would like to support them and return again soon.
