The location of this pub is great, very easy to get to and plenty of parking around the area. We ordered a table, but when we arrived they were a bit disorganised and we ended up with a pretty rubbish table near the door and without much space, we had taken our 2 year son with us too which made it more difficult. The food looked great on arrival, but it was very salty and despite mentioning this there was no response from the staff, so left quite disappointed in the overall experience. Could be better is the tag line.
Nice outside area and beautiful pub located next to the bridge on the canal. Fantastic in summer and cosy in winter. I always find this pub a little weird when it comes to atmosphere. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it feels really flat. The food is inconsistent and make sure you look up when the kitchen is open. A nice place for afternoon and evening drinks.
Absolutely loved this pub . The staff are so helpful and willing to that extra mile . The food was delicious and well presented . The triple cooked chips were the best I have tasted . Inside the pub is warm and friendly . The walk.along the canal was so peaceful . We will most definitely visit this pud again . Superb .
Really disappointed with the service provided and overall experience. We had booked for dinner & drinks and on arrival asked to sit outside as it was a nice summer evening. The host, who had initially ignored us was hesitant and stated that it wasn’t possible despite the restaurant being less busy than we’ve seen it. On seating us we had to order via QR code, and to be fair the drinks came pretty swiftly. However, having to order via the QR and sat in an empty restaurant with no input or attention from staff, we decided to have dinner elsewhere. Having had many good nights in the past, I know the tram at The Boat can do better.
Beautiful setting beside the canal. Lovely flower naskeys around really adds to the scene. You have to enter wearing a mask to announce yourself at the bar and can sit out or inside. You scan the qr code on the table and order and pay for everything on the phone. The service was excellent. Young man served us very friendly and helpful. Food very tasty. The only negative point I can make is the toilets had a very strong odour of fish. Unsure why. But otherwise great place. Very reasonable price and good food. Recommend.
I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could 4 doesn't seem entirely fair as they'd run out of my first choice of lunch I can't remember what it was but we were quite late sitting down but the welcome was warm and effusive and everyone enjoyed their meals chicken pie, fish and chips and a salt beef sandwich. Good value for the area as well.
Lovely roast with a group of friends and thier baby. Quite last minute plans, but the team at The Boat made us feel welcomed, valued and genuinely came across happy we had chosen The Boat. Would advise calling to book on a Sunday. Good food, well looked after beer, friendly staff. Thumbs up.
Been to The Boat a couple of times - mid-week lunch and today having a Sunday roast. The food is lovely, the pub is cosy and welcoming - definitely recommend!
Don’t usually review but the service was so bad I had to. Came here for a quick bite. Ordered 2 starters but they got the order wrong. As they had already made the the food they asked if we wanted it anyway and they would bring the correct food out. Over an hour later they still hadn’t and we went back up twice to enquire. Eventually we were fed up and asked for a refund which they refused and only offered to bring the right order out if we waited some more. Ridiculously poor service and will not be returning. Only went here as the rising sun pub was busy, now I know why
We went on a Saturday afternoon. The food and the location were really nice. The staff was incredible, the food proportions generous, and the toilets the cleanest I have ever seen in a pub!
