Came here without high hopes as felt it might be a bit of a tourist trap. The bar service was super blunt, but the food redeemed the visit. Had the pie sampler and the sausage roll. Delicious!!! The building is also super interesting and worth a look around. Decently priced too.Food: 5/5
One of my favourite pubs in London so far! This place has a long history built in 1886, and the atmosphere and interior are absolutely stunning! The food and drinks are lovely and very British. It's the best place to bring visitors who are in London for the first time.Food: 5/5
A beautiful and historic pub with great service, delicious food & amazing interiors. We had the garlic & truffle fries followed by a butternut squash and chickpea pie, both of which were outstanding! The staff are also really nice. It does get quite busy post 7pm which is understandable. Definitely one of my favorite pubs in London!
I’m so glad I saw this on tiktok and was able to go for lunch! Fantastic CBLT and chips. The fish and chips was a little oilier than we were hoping for. We adore the atmosphere and were lucky enough to get one of the soft chair tables by the entry.
A fancy pub in a classic building of an old bank. We got fish and chips and a steak. Happy to find out that they serve Hugo my favourite spritz. The inside area is well-decorated and there is also a nice outside area in the back.Food: 5/5
This historic old building has been beautifully restored there is an abundant amount of gold guilting accenting all of the chandeliers and wall trimmings. Very nice selection of beers and cask aged ales. They also have a good variety of liquor. The vibe is fantastic and a great place to hang out.Food: 4/5
If you are going to relax somewhere and have a drink, why not do it in a pretty venue. Quite a busy place, might not get a table easily. Had some halloumi fries and pork scratchings too. All good.Food: 4/5
Beautiful pub with a long history as a private bank funding the government. Unfortunately the food is average and there is limited seating or standing area for drinks. Recommend stopping by for 1 drink or booking a table in advance.Food: 3/5
It is rare for our reviewers to score low, as we choose venues with high potential, however our reviewers left without ordering after very poor service. They have scored fairly and without bias, given they did not sample a drink or any food. On Saturday 08-Nov, our reviewers sought out this pub at around 5pm after a West End Matinée. The pub was very quiet, but our reviewers stood at the bar unattended for over ten minutes.  We should add that the pub has wonderful high ceilings, is very historic, but was poorly heated. There were several bar staff who seemed strangely busy at a quiet bar, but they did not make eye contact or suggest they would be a moment.  A good barperson has a good idea who is next, but whilst waiting, another couple arrived, stood a couple of metres away and got served... in the right place at the right time. Our reviewers spoke to one bar person, who seemed to be passing through rather than serving, asked for help, but after another five minutes, no help arrived, and so our reviewers quietly left. They chose the busier Blackfriar, five minutes walk and got served almost immediately. We do not rate the customer service training at McMullen's pubs, but hats off to Nicholson's and the Blackfriar, who not only looked after our reviewers at the bar, but cooked a delicious meal with excellent waitress service.
Delicious food and drink. Lovely staff. Gorgeous old building which keeps up the theming inside it. Plenty of seating space so we easily found room for our group despite arriving Saturday lunchtime without a booking. Wheelchair accessibility: Only reason it loses a star is because the loos are upstairs. They can’t fix this because it is a listed building.
