There is a lovely stream with picnic tables nearby. If you are interested in antiquities then there is much information on posters dotted about the castle. Otherwise, it's a very beautiful spot with a very peaceful and spiritual feel... and by the way the views from the top of the castle are pretty spectacular.

I stopped by at the remains of Okehampton Castle on my day trip around the Dartmoor. This place seems to be not so frequented which is no wonder because there is not so much to see. The warden was very friendly, the entrance fee moderate (4.80 GBP) and I was lucky to get a parking lot beside the road. Plan 15 to 20 minutes to see everything in a very relaxed way.

A piece of local history with an excellent audio tour bringing the place to life. Its setting is beautiful and has ideal spots for a picnic among the flowers and 🦋.

Well kept romantic castle ruin. Great on s sunny day. No cafe but coffee and toilet facilities on site.

Beautiful place & stunning views. There is a toilet and small gift shop on site and places for a picnic. Difficult access for anyone with mobility restrictions. Fascinating history.
