Really enjoyed our meal, food was great however the place is cold, we ate in our coats. They did bring us a free tea tho & would def go back.
Just got home from Nur in Bridge Street. Terrible experience! Ended the night with my wife in tears as we haven't been out since baby number 2 came along. We had come out to celebrate my wife's birthday and had come from another restaurant in town which had been flooded by a burst water main. For a Saturday it was quiet but we were told there would be a half hour wait for food as they were short staffed, which was fine. Waited over 55 minutes for the food to arrive despite being told 3 times "it's just coming!" Ruined the whole night as we had to gulp down our food to rush home to baby. There was not even an apology nor any form of compensation. I detest being lied to and would never leave a bad review based on one experience Complete lack of customer service! I had expected a lot more after reading these reviews but I'm severely disappointed and won't be coming back or recommending anyone.
I don't know where to start. We visited Nur on a Friday evening with work. The menu was very limited totally different to the one online and overpriced. My parents used to live in Egypt and I can say that the food was hardly Egyptian and was quite overpriced. We ordered starters and mains. The waitress informed us that from the total of 6 main selections 2 weren't available. Starters came after half an hour. Mains came after an hour and a half! And the place wasn't even busy! Total disappointment. Never back again.
A very nice and quite place to have some wonderful food. Have to warn you though, the majority of food is a bit spicy. Additionally, we went there on Friday evening and it was pretty empty. The location is not the best, but again it is only 5 min from the Central Station. Last but not least, the choice of food is not too big, but the stuff they have is really good. Recommend.
Tasty food from an arab region. Music played. Romantic place. Food served fast. Just the quantity might not be enough if you are really hungry. So there might be a need to order more or maybe a starter before the actual meal. Hospitable waitress. Coming here again for sure. With friends next time!
I've been there several times usually on an Itison deal. The service is decent if you're not in a hurry to eat, and while you may be rushing for the Citizens, quite honestly if you've only got 1 hour to eat there's something called fast Food. Whilst it may be slow at times and decent but not great value at full price then food itself is fantastic. It's honestly one of the best curry-like dishes I have ever had, the rice and flatbread are nice and the tagine is awesome. Make sure you leave enough room for a dessert as those are very nice.
Nur isn't the kind of place that you stumble on by accident. It's tucked away south of the Clyde in Glasgow City Centre amongst run down buildings and boarded up shops, but it's well worth the 10 min walk from Central. The restaurant is decorated with plenty of throws & cushions to give it an Arabic feel and has a mezzanine level which looks out onto the restaurant. The menu - while slightly limited - has enough variation to allow everyone to order different dishes, although I can't stop myself from ordering the shawarma every time. The BYOB license is always good for cheap booze with a £3.50 corkage charge, however the only bottle shop in the area is a Spar with a sub-standard wine selection so you'd be better trying to stock up in town first. A meal for 2 came in at about £45 which - given the quality of food, staff and decor - is very reasonable. For that extra special something, go on one of the belly dancing nights!!
Loved the food. People here complained service is slow and we went on a Sunday evening so they were quite short of staff. We waited a bearable amount of time but the food was definitely worth any wait. Need to try this and will come back to try a different dish as soon as I can.
Atmosphere: a fantastic high-ceiling room, nicely lit and decorated in a way to give you an oriental flair and create a cozy and comfortable feeling. Food: excellent Egyptian food! I've travelled to the Sinai and Cairo a couple of times, and what I got here was slightly different from what I had there, as here it seems to have a Mediterranean touch which I explained myself with the fact that the cook is from Alexandria. Drink: they have a good range of teas including fresh mint and hibiscus and other non-alcoholic beverages, however they don't serve alcohol. IF YOU WANT ALCOHOL, BUY IT IN THE SHOP ACROSS THE STREET AND YOU'RE WELCOME TO BRING IT WITH YOU, they'll give you glasses or whatever you need. Price: average for Glasgow see pictures of menu, price for value was excellent. Overall, I can highly recommend this place, and it especially gives you an excellent break from the pub food or Italian and Indian cuisine you have everywhere here.
I went with my boyfriend to Nur while visiting Glasgow and to be brutally honest the surroundings around the restaurant is very unpleasant but DO NOT let that deceive you! This could very well be the best grill platter I've ever had, the interior decoration is very attractive and matches the vibe perfectly and the service is outstanding! If I ever go back to Glasgow this is the first place I will go to, Nur is the definition of an oasis in a concrete desert. You have to visit.
