Birthday disappointment, to be fair the food was lovely, however the rest was a bit of a shambles, for my birthday meal I book a table of three for 6.30pm on Saturday evening, arrived on time and shown to our table straight away, 10 minutes passed before we were asked if we wanted drinks, ordered a bottle of wine, the waiter returned to say it wasn't chilled and could we wait, so 20 minutes after arrival we got a drink, we still hadn't seen a menu, got hold of waiter who return with two menus between the three of us, food eventual ordered after 40 minutes, we had now been at our table for an hour by the time our starters arrived, over an hour and a half for our mains, as I mentioned the food was good, however the waiting time was really unacceptable, fortunately we were in no rush or we would most likely have left. Didn't make a huge fuss but did complain when we got the bill, the bill was then reduced by the cost of one drink, not great, would we return? probably not unless we hear there's been a great improvement in the service.
Great atmosphere like in 1920-40. Delicious food, big portions that we had no more space for dessert and not so bad prices. The best restaurant what i have been since i came to Scotland. Try camembert for starter:
Went for lunch here on Saturday, excellent value for money from the fixed price lunchtime menu. Good sized portions and well cooked tasty food, carrots that actually tasted of carrots. Delicious Rhubarb dessert. Helpful friendly staff.
The reason for only 4 starts is not the food which was amazing but the service .we had to wait to receive a menu and the drinks menu then another wait to get our drinks order taken.i know the restaurant was busy but the young staff seemed to find time to chat.its not a good look.we love coming to number 7 as the food is truly excellent but wasnt impressed on Saturday.
Unfortunately we are still looking for a good bar lunch venue. Service was dreadful. Although some of the food was very nice, I may have broken a tooth on one of the chunks of shell in the crab cocktail. Did not wait for coffee as nobody seemed to know how to work the coffee maker.
Excellent quality and value for money - food can take a while to arrive but at least you know that it is all being cooked from scratch. Don’t agree with waitresses wearing leggings as work as it’s not very professional
Had our first meal last night as had been recommended by a friend.Meal arrived on time piping hot and delicious Can't wait till my next one will be telling friends how fantastic it was.Thank you all
