The PDSA is a great charity, you are best to make an appointment online and someone will ring you to either organise a phone call from a vet or face 2 face appointment. I feel the staff , listen to me , understand my worries and together we work out a plan of action. I feel involved in every step and they make sure I can deal with the treatment plan. I always feel positive when I leave the appointment. I never feel rushed, all the staff are positive and are all there for the best welfare of my pet. The vets is clean and well presented with lots of seating. Easy parking with lots of spaces for disabled and EV charges spaces. I always make the minimum donation which will help towards my pets treatment.
DO NOT BRING YOUR FUR BABY TO THIS PLACE!!!! WORST possible “charity”. They don’t care at all! No duty of care! My cat is 100 times worse since she has been attending here. We’re now taking her to pride vets to find out what the real issue is because PDSA did nothing but take OUR MONEY! They will take your hard earned money and do nothing for you. They need CLOSING DOWN!
The best, very very thoughtful, respectful and caring - thank you to the staff on the night shift at 5am in the morning helping us with our baby Beagle boy - Charlie!!!nOur dearly beloved boy who passed away there they dealt with us and him impeccably.
UPDATE - another terrible experience with this place we rang pdsa for our other dog regarding a mammary mass, they said they can't get her in until the 30th June!!! Due to our deep concern for the mass, we took her to our private vet for a consultation, our private vet raised concern and said the mass needs surgically removing ASAP as it is suspicious of malignancy and if this was to spread to her lungs she would die. we rang the pdsa and explained the circumstances, they said they would need to get our dogs notes from the private vet to which they did, they then stated the earliest they can get her in for an 'appointment' was 25th June. 5days earlier than the initial appointment. They were In no rush, made every excuse saying 'we don't know what the lump is and we don't do biopsies'. I stated we don't want a biopsy just the lump removing as a priority. Again every excuse, no rush, rude, dismissive, arrogant, entitled,, both the receptionist and manager are just as bad. They basically told me to pay our private vet if we want it don't sooner as our dog with a suspected malignant tumour wasn't a priority despite us paying the pdsa for our dogs treatment, she's not a 'free pet'. They said essentially wait until she terminal then we will act. The pdsa are appalling. Exploiting vulnerable animals and owners on low income, all they are interested in is eternal admiration and validation for doing the bare minimum and treating people like third class citizens due to their financial circumstances. There's no regard for animal welfare, it's all about superiority and money. To think people leave thousands to them in their will makes me sick. Our beautiful girl is now at our private vet having the mass removed one day later not waiting until the 25th June for a bog standard appointment and she is being spayed at the same time. It might be a £900 vet bill, however, you get what you pay for and our girl is now receiving the love, care and surgery she desperately needs, eternally grateful to our private vet. This 'charity' that claims to love and are for animals clearly doesn't live up to what it preaches. An official complaint is being made and it definitely doesn't look good on this 'loving charity' if our girls mass comes back from the biopsy as malignant. Avoid here if you expect love, care, compassion and sincerety for you fur baby. We have given the pdsa so many chances to be decent and provide a satisfactory service, however each time there has been problem after problem. It's a real shame and very disappointing.nnOur dalmatian underwent a partial tail amputation due to happy tail, the tail then got infected pdsa stated it wasn't infected so why did they amputate her entire tail afterwards? after the operation our girl was repeatedly vomiting and we assumed it was a side effect of the pain killers, the pdsa advised us to continue the medication in full knowledge she was vomiting. our dalmatian then required a further tail amputation now left with a stump, she was sent home with no antibiotics, anytime surgery is done antibiotics are given as a general procedure however pdsa refused to give them stating she doesn't need them as the operation was done in a 'sterile area', unfortunately the outside world is not sterile therefore if or likely when this gets infected again there is no more tail to amputate and we will hold the Pdsa Liable. It appears the pdsa are it interested in ££££ and not the welfare of the animals. We are now going to a private vet to see if we can get our girl the antibiotics she should have been sent home with. Funnily enough they stroppliy said they couldn't gurantee anything and hoped we would accept being fobbed off. Do not recommend. A free pet or a low cost vet fees are not worth your dogs health or life.
Just short of £200 for a lady vet to not even give a thorough examination of our male fancy rat. Scared us by saying putting him to sleep would be an option if the cream didn't work. I wasn't convinced by this so I took him to an exotic vet in vets for pets. Here, she concluded that it wasn't what the emergency vet said it was, no cream or metacam was needed and he definitely does NOT need PTS!!!! Not happy with my visit here at all. What a waste of time and money. And I even came away upset thinking I'd have to put him to sleep!!!!
