Been here many a times in previous years but won’t be coming back here ever again after today’s scandalous lunch. Ordered a panini with chicken, stuffing and cheese with crisps on the side. We got a baguette with barely anything on it and salt and vinegar crisps very unusual to get them as they have such a strong taste - which is why we don’t like them but unlike the lack of toppings this is just personal preference
Very much going downhill from the last few times we visited Overpriced two or so euro more in dungarvan gets you two good dinners lunch of two half filled items also beef was not available Plenty of options on the menu the old too many things done badly than a few things done right Very friendly and helpful staff Won't be back
I opted for a chicken tikka, peppers & cheese tortilla wrap and side salad for €8.95. Very tasty and side salad was a step up from the usual green leaves with dressing. All sandwiches, paninis, rolls and wraps come with choice of chips, side salad or crisps. My husband went for the Club triple decker sandwich chicken bacon cheese onion & tomato with chips @€9.95. I had a cappucino for €3.95 pricey and my husband had an Americano for €3.35. Our children shared a toasted ham & cheese sandwich and chips @€8.95 on the pricey side and had water. But then a portion of small chips alone is €4.95!! I thought staff were friendly and efficient in a busy environment. I particularly liked how child friendly it was in that I spotted and asked for the colours and colouring books to keep the children entertained whilst we waited for our order going forward: staff could offer these without parents asking and the children were given a complimentary marshmallow when we were finished our lunch. A warm touch. Keep it up! Kid-friendliness: Colouring books and colours on request and complimentary marshmallow for kids
Went in with the family , we were looked after to the best by the very friendly staff and the food was absolutely delicious, could not fault any bit of the food , got a BLT which was the best I've ever eaten , kids had lasagna and cleaned their plates , they followed up with fresh fruit and apple pie which they absolutely loved Kid-friendliness: Kids were welcomed and given colouring books and crayons and treated brilliantly
Could not recommend less. Overpriced and ugly. Nothing is baked, the pound cake in particular are the ones you buy in Dunnes Stores and SuperValu. Shameless and outrageous to charge that much for store bought goods. I ordered a Latte and it was the powdered sachet version that you also buy at the stores. For over 3€ that’s frankly offensive. Go literally anywhere else.
Went in with my boyfriend for breakfast waitress was really friendly. We got our tea and all but waited 40 minutes for this breakfast which was only two small breakfast. When we received it it was clearly microwaved or overcooked bacon was so hard could barely cut it and the eggs looked microwaved. Won’t be back sickened we had to pay for it.
Fish of the day was good but the hamburger was kind of different, definitely not what I'm used to. Desert was decent.
Service was so bad had to find a table myself a round uneven table waited to get served watched a waitress looking at me doing nothing. Had to go get my own menu. Two vegetarian options on the menu vegetarian lasagne was awful few chips with it. It was so over cooked you could drink it true a straw. My daughter asked for an iced tea and got a plastic bottle of Lipton iced tea and a glass . My other daughter got a slice of over priced chocolate cake and a pot of tea. Waiting staff never spoke to me untill I told them the lasagne was uneadable. And by the way the place wasn't busy still charged 18.00euro for Lipton ice tea slice of chocolate cake and a pot of tea. We were after spending a fortune in killkenny traveled a long journey just because the girls taught it was a great place to shop very bad experience would not recommend this place . Vegetarian options: Rubbish what vegetarian option the lasagne was microwaved so much it was liquid
This establishment is an absolute disgrace for NO quality of food or value for money reasons being asked for plate of chips and 2 sausages coke and coffee. The portion was child's portion 10 normal size chips rest were buts Sausages were skinless and full of grizzle. Coffee was OK milk was not fresh and served in a small jam jar thing. Coke 3.75e Coffee 3.35e Chips and sausage 8.95e. It reminded me of Fawlty Towers not the Nostalgia Cafe I've been supporting with my wife and family for years.. A rip off this place doesn't need a review never going near the place again. I've photos of the receipt but won't upload here. Please stay away avoid low quality in everything here.
I was in this delightful cafe on Sunday afternoon, 25th. September, 2022, with three Spanish friends. The staff were very helpful and efficient and they really assisted one of our number who was Coeliac. The cakes were delicious and the tea was a proper Irish brew! I highly recommend this cafe to anyone visiting Kilkenny. PS. Thanks for the extra macaroon as I was leaving.
