Desperately in need of a makeover, but it does have a lovely comfy bed and lovely crisp and clean sheets. The promised toiletries were not there nor the fluffy gowns! The bathroom was lovely with a nice spacious walk in shower overall it's not bad we only stayed for 1 night the best thing about it is the location as it's right opposite wetherspoons and right in the middle of the town so traffic can be a bit noisy, oh and there's no on site parking so be aware as parking somewhere will cost you...
Cons - The carpet was lifting up, there was chunks of dust behind the TV and on the light in the bathroom. Bed was awful, the mattress was worn and both of us rolled into the middle. The frame itself underneath was held up with some blocks of wood. See photo. The furniture is worn, the desk, the side cabinets and the wardrobe. Pros - the gentleman who welcomed us was friendly and carried our case upstairs. The bathroom was clean, the were coffee and tea facilities. There was lots of space to store clothes. It's a quiet place Plenty of heating options, towel rail, radiator and extra stand alone heater. We left after 2 nights, had a third night booked but went to stay in a Premier Inn to be guaranteed a good night sleep.
Tatty , ripped wallpaper on entrance , chipped paint everywhere & dirty marks on walls , it's a lovely building , just left to rot , could be absolutely lovely with a much needed makeover , the best thing is the location & it was nice & warm , they are the only good points , we won't be staying againRooms: 3/5
Staff greeted us at the door, carried our cases upstairs and showed us to our room. He was super friendly. The room was spacious and clean. There was no breakfast but with a wetherspoons right across the street it didn't matter!Rooms: 5/5

Lovely room everythin clean bedding etc. Facility's on hand. Bathroom nice size clean. The gentleman who greeted very pleasent and helpful. Would stay again Rooms: 5/5
Lovely owners, and overall a lovely place. We've stayed twice as we love the baths in some rooms. I'm not giving 5 stars but this place is definitely up there and worth the 4.
Filthy place with dark vibes. Mattress looked like it was from WW2. Cold and uninviting.Rooms: 1/5
Chose this hotel for its location but aside from this we were very underwhelmed. When we arrived we got a choice of two rooms on the first floor, the front one we were told would be noisy because of the nightclub below and the back one would be a bit quieter but was underneath a stag do and there was no shower, just a bath. Chose the back bedroom as we needed a good night sleep, all the furniture looked tired and the room wasn't the cleanest, all the floorboards creaked and you could feel a draft through the bathroom window as well as being able to hear everything that was going on outside. When we finally managed to get to sleep despite the noise from the nightclub below the stag party returned and wherever they were in the hotel whether it was the corridor or the floor above you could hear everything that was going on. Breakfast was also disappointing. Staff were quite friendly and the bed was quite comfy but other than that it wasn't a great experience.
Absolute day light robbery this place, had up to a certain date to cancel for free, unfortunately due to Covid had to cancel yet the hotel said it was outside the time for free cancellation and are charging the full room price, avoid at all cost, very rude on the phone when trying to sort it out and wouldn’t even let you change the dates !! Seems like you either have to go with Covid and honour your booking even when cancelling within the time scale of pay for the room anyway ! Absolute disgrace
