Very enjoyable first visit to a fairly local walk. It’s winter so we timed it to a day the Cafe would be open. Called in for nice cuppa and warm Scone.  Then set about a sedate walk (necessary due to illness).  It was very wet and muddy underfoot but the fact you can choose to walk on the flat or walk as many inclines as you want, is great. It has been designed really well. No charge but please be generous with donations to help them maintain this imaginative reclamation project.

Bit of puffy climb for me. Couple of pit stops on way up but well worth the effort. Lovely views at top.

Nice walks and stunning views apart from the opencast which is next to the park but still interesting to look at also .
Free to enter but they do have a donation box and typical cost is only  £1.00 .
You dont need to be healthy to reach the high points as  the paths are designed to incline slowly so you can take your time in walking .
Planes are visible for landing and take offs from Newcastle airport so you get some great views of them also

Best end to an opencast mine I've seen to date, nice little walk to explore her properly, love the use of Pictish stylish and spirals in her design, its very apt for where she lies

Excellent free outdoor walking experience. See the mines below, careful in bad weather this is very steep and daring at times.
