During my recent planning application I have made numerous telephone calls and spoken to a number of staff, from the receptionist through to the planning officers As for the phones, the times i have made contact have been varied during the day, considering the size of the operation i have never waited more than 10 rings.......i think that is pretty good On my visits again i have received prompted attention within the council at all times As for personal contact the the planning department I realy could not have expected better. And yes I am only a resident (nobody special) Well done

Don't know what they spend their money on but it sure isn't the roads. Spent 1 day of a 4-day break waiting for the RAC after our tyre was damaged by hitting a water-filled pothole on the road between Pauperhaugh and Longframlington. The road quality is truly appalling. Deep potholes impossible to avoid without swerving into oncoming traffic. Drive at a safe speed and you get a HGV six inches from your bumper. Really guys - your roads are a disgrace. Get them sorted!

The only replies I get, if I get any are apologies for not replying. I am wondering why I continue wasting my time TRYING to contact these lot over so many years, possibly in the hope that one day I may get a reply that's not an apology. I am not getting good value for my council tax. Can anyone please tell me if their are any worse councils in the country?

The people of Northumberland were consulted about the new name of the unitary authority. The choice was between having the name of the incumbent county council as the name for the new unitary authority - Northumberland County Council or whether a brand new name should be given - Northumberland Council.
