The Northern hotel, a hidden gem in the heart of the Angus countryside’ has been providing hospitality for over three centuries.

Following the re-opening and full refurbishment of the hotel in 2005, the hotel continues to go from strength to strength, constantly striving to improve the quality and standard of product that we provide to you, our customers. We were staying overnight after a busy and tiring day working outside nearby. But the family running the hotel couldn't have been friendlier or more wecoming, which after a long cold day, was so appreciated. Very comfy, clean room, and great shower. And in the morning a brilliant full cooked breakfast. It's a great, relaxed, comfy place to stay.
We didn't stay at the Northern Hotel but we wanted to write a review following their hospitality.nWe were involved in a car accident and they allowed us to rest in the hotel while we waited on transport. The lovely lady at front of house phoned us a taxi and gave us refreshments to calm us down as we were in a bit of shock.nWe are so grateful for her kindness ans wanted to share our experience with people that are thinking of staying or visiting here.nThank you so much.
We had our christmas day lunch at the northern this year it was amazing from going in to leaving the staff were amazing nothing was too much for them the lunch was amazing piping hot when arrived to table no waiting time and the food was amazing as always thank you all merry xmas xx
While staying in Brechin, the restaurant at the Northern Hotel became our first choice to visit. So much so, we visited two nights in a row and loved the Highland Chicken so much, we had it both nights.nThe lady running the restaurant was lovely. So helpful and kind. A skilled guitar player too apparently!
The staff were pretty non existent, the room was unclean and looked like the no cleaner had ever been in the room. The shower head was disgusting and not fit for purpose, floor was dirty, bugs in the light shade and well to be honest the curtains look like wolverine stayed the night! Ripped to shreds. The smell in the room is awful and to be honest I am glad it was just one night! This place needs a lot of TLC! We won't be back and I would highly recommend you look else where unless you're happy sleeping in such disgusting conditions!
