The short section of railway line runs through the Hunsbury Hill Country Park where there is a very large Iron Age hill fort. The railway is only open with trains for a few Sundays a year so if you want to ride do check first. The park is good fun anyway with a well equipped play area.

It was quite interesting; although our experience with the Christmas "Train ride with Santa" event wasn't great. Despite booking in advance, they had no record of us and thus no present. They -did- get that sorted out but it was all a bit awkward. Also the train ride itself was disappointing. There were no windows in the carriage so it was just like being in a dusty, cramped box for a few minutes.

Google says 'open today': the notice board showed open today (Remembrance Sunday). So we went in, and were told quite positively that "We are not open to the public today." I think a simple anatomy lesson would be in order here. (Do you know which is your elbow?) I have just checked on the web-site (nirt.co.uk), which I find is promoting Hallowe'en Train Rides on 30/31 October! No mention of Christmas running. Yes, I know you are volunteers, but if you depend on visitors for funding your play, you need to get your act together.
