This is to me the way a fish and chip shop was and probably should be very helpful staff nopping clean but is is all about the food, traditional and very tasty we ate in and it was quite busy people were from far and wide. Will definetly be back there next time I am in Ripon.

I would have preferred to contact the proprietors by email initially but I cannot find their email address. My wife visited the shop on 5 July, and I appreciate that the lady & gentleman there are trying to run a business in difficult times probably, and the last think that I wish to do is 'put the boot in'. I aim to give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism in the hope that they will heed my comments. The portion size is OK Value is OK What is NOT OK were the soggy chips which must have been re-heated for ages. I would prefer to wait for firmer chips, but if ne dooes not care what the chips are like, then fine. NOT OK is the oil used for cooking. I have no idea what oil they use but I do not like the flavour of it. It smells as though the oil is way overdue for a change. I was reminded of the smell all evening due to flatulence; it really was terribly disappointing because it is my nearest 'chippy' and I cannot go any more and I have to go to, the Unicorn, for example, where the chips are freshly done and not soggy.
