On my most recent visit on 30 August, the service was very efficient, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The interior of New Penny is lovely, having had a full refit a couple of years ago. The seats are comfy and there is lots of space on the tables. There are lots of savoury and sweet options on the menu, I had the banana split with mint choc chip and rum and raisin. The ice cream is made by New Penny and you can tell this as the ice cream is smooth and of a high quality. The dessert met expectations but I thought the portion sizes could have been slightly bigger given the cost. I think the prices are quite high looking at comparisons with other local firms such as Wallings and I say that as someone who lives very close to Central London and is used to paying a premium. However, I understand this given the high cost of milk and dairy products at the moment. I have previously had the ice creams to take away and these are also very nice, at 2.85 with a flake they make for a worthy occasional treat. You get a wide choice of flavours normally around 15. Portions for take-out are more generous.
We had a breakfast, one was a bit too fancy my breakfast was lovely but no gluten free sausage in the vegetarian breakfast, gluten free toast, good selection of breakfasts, nice coffee and welcoming staff
Always enjoy dining at The New Penny! Lovely food and drinks. I had the caramel iced latte and a bacon, brie and cranberry panini. Decently priced and service was good.Food: 5/5
Always visit this establishment on my visits to Poulton. New Penny has had a major refurb and certainly has created a more pleasant experience. Everything was superb and is obviously a hit with the locals.Splendid display of ice creams and the staff were professional in their work I look forward to my return in 2023.
Been a few times. Normally pretty good but I went near closing time and staff not very helpful. Obviously in a rush to close on time. The ice cream was melting and I was taking it away so ended up all over the seat of my car.Food: 3/5
Lovely place we had lunch the soup from the Christmas menu was absolutely delicious! Butternut squash, and a lovely sandwich to go with. Great fast service and really lovely staff.Food: 5/5
Chose cheese & onion pie from the specials. Although the cheese was tasty it was mixed with far too much mashed potato for our taste. Chips were cooked superbly with carrots and brocolli to finish. Ginger ice cream was wonderful.Food: 4/5

We have just moved to the area, I can't recommend New Penny enough. Stay clear of the big chains and come here, just a coffee and cake or something more filling. You will get table service, friendly people and great food. Spotless clean unlike the big chains- never have enough staff table alway strewn with rubbish.
Loved how the place was so warm and the staff were really kind. I l9ved the variety of choices they have. I want to go back to that place soon!
