"The Moon Highgate is a family ran contemporary bistro set over two floors in the heart of Kendal. Head Chef and owner, Leon Whitehead's menus change frequently using seasonal local ingredients. The restaurant is directly opposite the Brewery Arts Centre, so it is perfectly placed for a pre or post dinner trip to the cinema, theatre or a music event. The aim of the restaurant is to create a casual and informal space where everybody should feel comfortable and relaxed for either dinner or lunch attended to by a helpful, friendly and attentive team of staff."

We ordered the soup of the day and chicken liver parfait for starters. For mains, we had the roasted fillet of Hake with mussels. For dessert we had the pineapple tart. The food was absolutely delicious. Very unique dishes that are both very nicely presented and tasty. The service was great, and the food came out fast. We had a great time. Highly recommended.
Booked last minute for a Sunday dinner when friends visited. I phoned and spoke to Helen manager and asked if they could accommodate for a severe nut tree nut and peanuts allergy. Helen explained that all food is cooked fresh and they are confident with knowing what each dishes ingredients are and they will ensure clean utensils and work stations are used to prepare the allergy meal. Helen advised her husband was the chef as it's a family business! And she would advise him of the allergy and also print a separate menu taking off the meals that contained nuts. We arrived and had a lovely little table with plenty of space for a pram thank you!. The waiters were fantastic and very attentive to our needs. They were well aware of the allergy and made us all feel very confident in their ability to manage the allergy request. We had the roast beef dinner and the sticky toffee pudding. All I can say is, wow. It was hands down; The, Best, Sunday dinner I've ever had sorry grandma. And the sticky toffee pudding was incredible! My wife was shocked to know she could have the pudding as she NEVER gets to eat one! And equally loved all the food too. I think we've found out new local and can't wait to go back! Thank you Helen and team. Absolutely fantastic place and wonderful food!
Had the most amazing meal with my partner. Highly recommend. Lovely and helpful staff, nice music, beautiful surroundings and very tasty food. Would definitely be back!
Goof food but some timing issues The restaurant is lovely and the food was good but the whole experience is oddly rushed, all dishes come out too quickly Starters came before drinks even before table water, main came very shortly after and then again with dessert. We didn't get past 1 drink throughout the meal and the whole thing felt rushed and kind of ruined the experience a little as we travelled quite a way to get there for a date night which lasted under an hour for 3 courses
Excellent restaurant with a small but well-considered menu. Everything was beautifully presented, and the food skilfully cooked and tasty. Particularly impressed by the stone bass with spiced carrot purée, Israeli giant couscous, samphire & green beans. Excellent chips. Strawberry cheesecake & sticky toffee for pud both decent. Young & friendly team of service staff.
I came here for my 30th and was not disappointed, the food is insanely great. The restaurant and staff are fantastic. Highly recommended.
Really lovely flavours on the single vegan options for each course. Very good food and will go again. Would've been 5if there was more than a single vegan choice. As there wasn't, we both ended up eating exactly the same thing. Dietary restrictions: Have vegan options on each course
The food was amazing! We stayed at Windermere, went to Kendal just for the meal. Beautiful decor, food and service.
The staff are attentive, polite and friendly. Food was tasty. Portions are a tad on the small side. The bitter chocolate tart with satsuma ice cream is recommended.
Thank you for a delicious Sunday lunch. The food was incredible, and this from someone who doesn't think I can eat a better roast than my own. Service was so polite, welcoming and accommodating. Will definitely be back soon to sample the rest of the menu. Cant recommend this place enough
