Definitely the best dim sum in London, cherry on top - quick service and affordable price! As a Taiwanese I’ll recommend you this restaurant instead of overrated ding tai fung! Sweet bean curd dessert is the best worth the 12.5% service fee constant swift tea refilling
We had the Set menu C for two for 19.95. This provides a plentiful feast. The quality is par rather than exceptional. Our first dish had rather dry and chewy chicken. The crispy aromatic duck was good, but not that crispy, and they gave us hardly any onion and cucumber strips, so we had to ask for another plate - which they charged 1.80 for. Restaurant decor can most charitably be described as Shabby chic and they had a table positioned in front of a fire escape. Staff were friendly.
My go-to Dim Sum restaurant as a BBC British Born Cantonese Londoner. Service is always good and their dim sum is authentic and delicious. Must try their Roast Pork Puff Pastry and Water Chestnut Cake - both of my personal favourites! If you want classics, go for their Har Gow, Siu Mai, Prawn and Chive Dumpling, Turnip Cake, Prawn Cheung Fun, Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce and Roast Pork Bun. For those of you wanting something a little more exciting, try the Cold Chicken Feet or Thai styled Chicken Feet, Duck Tongue, Ginger and Spring Onions tripe and the Curry Whelks.
The food was delicious and very reasonable. Great selection of dumplings and other dishes. Very fast pace service, but the food was good quality and authentic.Food: 5/5
I highly recommend the BBQ pork pies they are egg tart base with pineapple bun toppings which is rare these days, only two pies per order and they are small though and beef tendon when I was there I saw lots of old patrons too because it opened a bit earlier?. The tea was also fresh with fragrant which was a nice surprise. Service wise it was typical 'China Town service'
Food was good, service was pretty fast even though they were full.Food: 3/5
I've been coming to this place since I was a kid, huge selection of Chinese food, and was a regular for the dim sum. Today was the first time I had come since the pandemic. I came on a Saturday at lunch time and arrived to find a huge queue outside, never had I seen one before so I saw this as a good sign. Luckily I only had to wait around 10 mins to be seated. I ordered my usual staples and service was about the usual standard and food didn't take very long to arrive. Unfortunately I thought most of the dim sum didn't taste as nice as before, and the portion sizes were smaller than before, at least it doesn't taste like heated up frozen dim sum like most of the competitors appear to be serving. The cheung fun seemed to have maintained the same standard which was delightful. In summary, the dim sum is fine but not great, service is good, and prices are very competitive. You can't go wrong if you come here for dim sum, but don't expect anything spectacular.
Great dim sum, particularly loved the cheung fun of both prawn and char sui, aswell as the soup dumpling and prawn dumplings, the deep fried custard bun was a great end to the meal.Food: 5/5
I would have given only 1 or 2 stars based on recent dining experience but increased to 3 stars because I dined here previously for lunch / dim sum on a quiet day and it was a better experience. However, the recent dinner I had here was on a busy evening. Unfortunately it appears this restaurant is a completely different experience depends on whether it is busy times or not. I would recommend avoiding it in busy times / public holidays as they don't appear to be equipped to handle the pressure. There was significant waiting time to be seated. This was communicated to us so no issues with this at all and fully accepted. However there was significant delay to take order and serve the food eventually without any communication or updates which was not great. More than 1.5 hours before food arrived. The wait staff didn't keep diners updated and there were no ETA for food. Two other tables left as they couldn't wait and were frustrated with lack of communication. We were desperately hungry so we waited instead of leaving which I now regret. The worst part of this was the fact that the protein on soup, noodles and fried rice were all cold on every dish. The rice and noodles tasted nice but ruined with cold chicken and pork. We complained to the wait stuff who instead of admitting fault claimed that is how the food is supposed to be, i.e their proteins in food is always cold and offered to microwave the food. This is unacceptable. For the amount we paid and how long we waited, cold meat on every dish was unacceptable. In summary, restaurant is not suitable in busy times. Would have accepted the issues somewhat if they were communicated. However the nonchalance on serving cold dishes and lack of communication to diners resulted in a very poor experience. I would recommend dining here only on non busy days. Avoid when public holidays or when Chinatown is busy for an event.
This is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in London. They always have seat places available at all time, even during the busiest times. Their food is really good and the service is fast too. I really recommend you to come and visit this delicious Chinese restaurant.Recommended dishes
