I like the fish & chips here as long as they are frying separately from other foods! I wish the staff to be careful not to touch the money & the food with the hand.. Also, to find out a way to let the smoke of cooking to go away from the shop.. it's fine unless you've got an asthma .. Many thanks
Awful food. I expected chip shop fish and chips - I've had great food from this shop in the past - what I got was frozen and thawed chips that had been given a cursory frying and were thick, clumsy and hard, and fish in thin, damp and most definitely uncrispy batter. Verging on the inedible. Having not had fish and chips for a long while, we were eagerly anticipating what turned out to be a major disappointment. I do not understand the positive reviews, unless this was an untypically bad night, or that the tolerance of third rate fast food has become massively more relaxed.
I ordered a small portion of fish, chips and curry sauce and it was £8.30. This price seemed high to be but I was in a hurry and after seeing the reviews on here thought it’d be worth it. It really wasn’t. The batter on the fish was thick and stodgy, and the actually bit of fish was very small. The chips were ok, not good or bad, just average but the portion was very small. The curry sauce was typical chip shop curry sauce and I had no issue with it. The lady behind the counter was pleasant and friendly. Overall, I felt annoyed that I spent that much money on a small, underwhelming dinner.
The fish and chips are pretty good aswell as tasty. But hospitality and service is a bit questionable and blunt. If your local and been going there for a 100 years then you'll be greeted by a warm friendly face. But if its your first or third time there, the staff can be rather blunt and want nothing to do with you. My advice just treat everyone the same, old or new.
£7 for a SMALL fish and chips is insane. In this economy it's not worth it. Cod is not really crispy, kinda eh, food was still warm after a 30 minute walk so it's alright. But not a place I'd frequent.Food: 3/5
Excellent chip shop with great vegan options . Really enjoyed our food . Vegetarian options: Vegan friendly options also vegan gravy .
