Brilliant Chippie around the back of the Leppings Lane Entrance to Hillsborough. Really tasty food. Excellent value for money. Paid £3.80 for sausage, chips, and curry sauce. Tasted great and kept my full all match. Brother had mini cod, chips, and curry sauce for £5.50. Really good service. Staff friendly and efficient. Large queue outside but didn't have to wait too long. Definitely recommend
Must be newish owners, this place was renowned for high quality fish and chips when i lived in this area. I was stunned at how bad the chips and fish were this time after I recommended it to my visiting family. Chips were greasey and bland and the fish batter was terrible. Will not be going back againFood: 2/5
10th June The owners have listened and now the Cheese Fritters are excellent. Just the right size, and enough cheese to distinguish it from a potato fritter. The owners have also indicated that they may introduce a veggie pie too. A veggie/vegan burger would also be welcome. As usual the chips were fantastic and according to my eating companion the sausages were good too. Welcome to one of the best chippies in Sheffield! ----------------------------- 5th May Just returned. The shop was busy but orders were taken quickly & the environment was friendly. This time the quality of the food had improved. The chips were plentiful, fish was cooked to order, and my cheese & onion rissole was tasty & cooked to perfection. Mani & Priti have certainly listened & learned and going to this chippie is certainly a treat I will look forward to. -------------------------------------- As of April 2023, this chippy is under new management. Happy retirement to Joanne & Jimmy! The new owner has taken time to learn the ropes from the previous staff and Chris is still working there alongside Tina. I was worried that the food wouldn't be as good as Jimmy's, but I found it to be very tasty. The chips were proper potatoes, the sausages were freshly cooked and scraps were given with everything. The Cheese & Onion burger was still available. It was twice the size and not quite as good as Joanne's but getting there. Maybe a little more cheese and a smaller size. Perhaps a vegetable pie could be included in the menu. So welcome to our new chippy owners. You're doing great, and you've certainly listened and learned and I'm sure the Four Lanes will be a great success. ---------------------------- The best chippy in the area. Not a single bad chip to be found - so tasty! The sausages are excellent. The cheese & onion burger for vegetarians is sublime. The staff are amazing - in fact they are wonderful entertainment! Would recommend! I just wish you'd open more often! Vegetarian options: There is a homemade vegetarian option of a cheese burger - which tastes wonderful. Not a big fan of these burgers usually, but this is wonderful.
I generally call in here on Match Day, and I have a Pukka Beef & Onion Pie special. Always with mushy peas. A Can of Shandy. I always ask for scraps. Henderson’s relish on the top. I've have the mini-fish with chips. The curry sauce is top notch too.Food: 5/5
Just had fish and chips from Four Lanes. Our large fish were huge and equally a large chips was more than enough for the two of us. The fish was beautiful. Pure white and really well cooked with great batter. Wish it wasn’t so good. Not good for the waistline! Service so welcoming. Good value for money.Food: 5/5
One of the best chippys we’ve had in a long time! We got the specials and it was a generous portion very filling at a great price. We both had fish and chips and it was all very nice and tasty. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming. Could not recommend enough!Food: 5/5
Started to go here about five weeks ago. Great service, fantastic food , wonderful banter and a pleasure to go to. Thank you for making my visits so enjoyable and our fish and chips so tasty. Well done Manni, Preet and Tina From Eliot , the caravan man!
Different owners, same high quality. Cooked fresh as you walk in the door. Consistently the best fish and chips in North Sheffield. Parking: Can use Tyre Fitting car park outside of office hours. Otherwise street parking50 metres away
We have been going to Four Lanes for a long time. We were sorry to see Jimmy and Jo leave. However, I must congratulate Manni and Preet new owners on ensuring that the food they serve is still spot on! Excellent Fish cooked to order, Chips, Sausage and Peas . They work very hard along with their staff, always pleasant and welcoming. They have also expanded the menu, which will broaden the appeal of the Business to others, who may not want fish? Good luck going forward, from a very satisfied customer
Edited as since it’s been sold to new management it’s downhill . Chips are brown and look burnt and too chunky with some not cooked properly in the middle. Before they were lovely crispy golden and cooked to perfection.making your chips too chunky like door wedges they have no chance to cook inside !!!And portion sizes are pathetic . I’m paying to get a decent portion not small . And why is it 40p extra for large chips ?? Another marketing gimmick .. Old owners gave decent amount of chips for the money . I never ate my meal unsatisfied but now you’re thinking you want another portion of fries . Fish doesn’t have same amount quality it used to have .used to be golden brown now it’s dark brown batter which suggests the oil is being overused . … maybe change oil regularly ??? Shame as I used it regularly and won’t bother now .
