Nice new food court affair in a great building. It’s lovely to see the space / area reactivated and the offer is really decent; no idea what it’ll be like as a gig venue, but as a food hall it’s got some nice vendors doing some interesting things. The drink selection is alright, and maybe geared more to serving big pre-gig crowds in the future. Space has been modishly reinvigorated, with a pleasing mid-century vibe, and the usual exposed materials. Tried the Butty Shop and really enjoyed both the ham sandwich and crisps I ordered; well made and clever enough to pull off the high concept idea. You’re tripping over these kinds of places in London, but they’ve been thin on the ground in Manchester, so it’s nice to have another good one to join Mackie Mayor, Hello Oriental, etc.
Really delicious food. I would suggest to order 2-3 bites. I only ordered two which was enough, but if you’re a bit more hungry, go for three. Would definitely recommend the Kyoto Cluck-Cluck from Bao Bros! The espresso martini was good, but not the best, it could have tasted more coffee.
It was wonderful to be here for the opening gig, John Cooper Clark and Mike Garry. Plied with free food and drinks on arrival. What's not to like? I'll tell you. The seating in the performance space is not comfortable for the long haul. Too many noises from outside the space distracting from what was happening on stage. The backdrop of a JCC book 'plug ' was wearisome for the whole night and could have, should have been replaced at some stage. The drinks and food are pricey. The staff, without exception, were brilliant.
One of my favourite venues in Manchester. The acoustics are incredible and the beer isn't too extortionate either . Overall amazing 10/10 looking forward to going to more gigs at this venue!
It's a theatre upstairs with a good hall on the ground floor, serving samples of cuisine from Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, among others. Halal chicken is available from the bao and Japanese vendors. Great, friendly service. I look forward to visiting again.
We tried food from Bao Bros for the first time, some good options available. Tha Bao bun classic had too much mayonnaise and I mean a lot. Other than that the rest of the options like the lobster roll, the crab burger and the beef fries were delicious. As far as the bar and venue staff when I asked someone to come and clean the table when we arrived we were ignored and utensils from previous people were on the table until our food order arrived.
Great sized venue for a gig and really good food downstairs. Drinks a little bit pricey compared to university venues but pleased there is another venue in Manchester that can host bands of this size. We saw Enter Shikari which is one of my favourite bands and they were phenomenal as ever.
Went to see Hard-Fi here and were impressed with the quality and design of the whole place. Brilliant ambient lights before the gig and mad strobes all the way through from the quality light system. Plenty of space to stand and walk about so does not feel too crowded or sweaty. A short walk from Manchester Victoria too!
Loved this venue. Downstairs a nice relaxed atmosphere with loads of choice on great food. Upstairs, perfect size venue. Great atmosphere. Easy to get to from Victoria station.
What a great new old venue. Good beer downstairs, food looked good, and then a 'state of the art' performance space upstairs. Fantastic
