A strange and unfortunate experience. I left the shop bewildered having been refused service. Reading the below reviews I now appreciate the problem is the shop owners objection to purchasing royal mail postage online for which he doesn't receive payment. This seems to be perfectly reasonable. Understanding this, I would have happily purchased my postage in store in future. I had in fact purchased all my Christmas packaging from the shop yesterday. However, as noted by many reviewers the manner in which the owner expressed his dissatisfaction to me was bizzare, rude and instantly aggressive. Reflecting on the experience 'unpleasant' sums it up. I will continue to use local shops as I appreciate their value, this unfortunately won't be one of them.
Rude and unhelpful attitude. I purchased postage online as i was planning to drop off at the delivery office on Monday morning on my way to work, I then realised these guys were open on a Saturday so decided to take it there. The bloke behind the counter seemed to be disappointed that the parcel was the correct weight. He barked orders at me then said "you should have just brought it here - keeps us in a job" then tossed the postal receipt on the desk. Now I hadn't given any thought to the fact that online postal purchases may mean that local post offices lose money, if so that is a problem and should be rectified. If he had asked politely why i chose to purchase my postage online rather than in the shop i would have explained as above. I will certainly consider taking my items to the post office in future - but not to this post office.
Had to send a power of attorney abroad which was legal attested in Glasgow. I was advised to send it Global Priority with Parcel Force. The documents arrived safely at their destination despite flooding in the country. Excellent service.
I took a parcel back here & I was told i had the wrong label by a disgruntled impolite man who was serving me. I happened to say are you sure when he replied very nastily. “I’m the one that works here, I should know while aggressively pointing at the label. Terrible terrible customer service. I will not be back.
The owner refused my pre-paid label, said it wouldn't scan. It scanned just fine at another post office!! The rude owner is running out of excuses to refuse pre-paid labels by the sounds of it. They should not be operating as a post office in my opinion. Shop is also crammed with stuff on the floor. Don't waste your time with this place - I won't be back!
Tried to drop off a prepaid parcel a couple of weeks ago - was refused and had to pay again, and for some reason the rate was 3 times the online price. Sent 2 standard size letters by recorded delivery and only realised when I got home and checked the receipt I had been charged for large letters. I will be avoiding this post office in future.
Tried to use them twice to hand in ebay returns with a pre printed label. 1st time I was berated by a man stating they make no money off this and then they said the pre-printed label didn't cover the weight of the parcel and refused to take it. 2nd time was just the other day and had the same experience. Both of these times I just took the same parcel to another post office and they took the parcels without issue. I also discussed it with the other office and they said all was ok. No idea what's going on but a thoroughly unpleasant experience.
I've had mixed experiences good and not so good posting items here when Clarkston PO was closed. The problem, as I see it is this, customers are buying postage online/ using their own stamps to post parcels/ letters. The Shop owner gets paid a PO commission on stamp sales. Therefore, if no-one buys the postage from him, he is losing money so whats the point in him providing the service. The issue is therefore the contract with PO. That said, its what he signed up to and his contract is to provide the service. However if you don't support your local shops and that includes our PO ,it won't be there much longer. Most of the banks in Clarkston have already closed Clydesdale, RBOS, Santander, TSB and now there is only HBOS. Buy your postage in store would be my suggestion and forget the 5% online discount.
Rude and aggressive owner. Popped in to post a parcel which I had already stamped using online service and needed to post/get proof. Was told I should have bought postage from him. Then shouted at and told that local post offices are closing because of people like me and where would I go when that happened. I was so taken aback I said "I'm sorry - would you like me to take it somewhere else?" He said yes and threw parcel back at me. I might have taken his advice and bought from shop next time but there will be no next time. Complaint submitted to post office. Extremely rude.
Shocking service today 4th Feb. Took a parcel to Post Office but they refused to accept as the said it was too big!!!. I was sending a LP through the post that only weighed 500g and was a flat package 13" by 13". Was told they can't accept it and I had to go to main sorting office. Just think they couldn't be bothered ; terrible attitude. Used Click and drop service from Royal Mail which clearly says it can be taken to any Post Office
