Lovely traditional Manor House and Gardens. Beautifully constructed and preserved. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly so it was fascinating to see how much history the property went through. There is a nice cafe on site which sells tasty food and drinks. The gardens are beautiful and nice to walk around. There is also a small art gallery and bookshop as well as the gift shop to enjoy. We would definitely go back to enjoy again.
Lovely national trust property to visit. Ample parking not too far from the house, shuttle service provided too as it's an uphill walk. Large gardens to explore, exhibits, cafe, shop, second hand bookshop and the house itself to explore. Made for a very fun family outingVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Beautiful Manor house. Lovely grounds. Cafe was nice. Staff friendly and everywhere was clean and tidy. We had never been before and spent about 3 hours. Highly recommend it, could have done the house twice!!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
The garden is a bit small in comparison with the usual National Trust locations, but is beautiful and well maintained. The house is a master piece, you have plenty to see and to learn. Close to the main house, is the art gallery what I highly recommend. Overall is nice place to visit.
Went today and saw the Xmas decorations that were themed on The Christmas Carol story. It was magical they have done a lovely job. It's quite small grounds so not my favourite National Trust as I like a good walk but a very unique house. The food was nice as was the coffee and there's a fun woodland playground trail for the kids I'm sure they love. A bit muddy but hey its November so what do you expect. See you next time!
Lovely National Trust site. Parking is close to the main house. The gardens were lovely and you can also walk through a small bit of woodland. The inside of the house was also really nice. My only complaint is we were never offered a map and there were no maps near the main entrance. But the site is small enough so it wasn't a big problem. I just like to make sure I don't miss anything!
Impressive National Trust property. Keith in the gallery was very helpful and explained the history behind the paintings which are excellent. The hall is stunning. Nice shop and cafe. Pleasant staff. Highly recommend.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Stunning manor house, beautifully dressed for Christmas creating a lovely atmosphere. Appreciated the staff sharing their vast knowledge about the property and the family as we went round. Unfortunately not enough staff to enable us to visit the upstairs but we will go back again to see this when the weather is less inclement so we can see the grounds as well.
Second visit as first time we visited was during COVID and upstairs was closed. It's a lovely building with lovely gardens. House was built to look a lot older than it actually is. We got the opportunity to go on a tour around the upstairs of the house. This is definitely recommended as we had access to rooms not usually open. We missed the gardens last time so were pleased that we had the opportunity this time. The kitchen garden was a favourite of mine and during this time of year September lots of pumpkins were growing. Make sure you visit the gallery too as it's also worth a visit.
Lovely house and the volunteers were very pleasant, engaging and knowledgeable but also down to Earth which is what the Trust needs. Returned from a lovely lunchtime visit and highly recommend the house and tearoom, plenty of space. Overwhelmed with the proactive and pleasant volunteers, we'll be back!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
