Mwanaka offers a great selection of fresh farm foods, including maize cobs, pumpkin leaves, and a wide variety of authentic African products. It’s the kind of place that gives you a true taste of home, especially if you’re looking for traditional ingredients that can be hard to find elsewhere. The store is well-stocked with familiar favourites, and the friendly staff make the shopping experience even better. Highly recommended for anyone craving a genuine African shopping experience.
True African food source. Always sharing the location with friends when they visit from Australia or US and need that taste from home… prices reflect the journey the inventory is coming from but one hopes volume will even out the prices over time to make the items a mainstay for many otherwise shelves could easily be empty if people were not attending to just the craving once in a while… it would also be good if the shop can strike a parking arrangements like what has happened with the fast food outlet and the barber shop next to it. For now one has to step into the fast food to buy something to get free parking then hope into Mwanaka…
Today I travelled 40mins down to the shop looking forward to buying some goods from home. I purchased my items, left the shop, continued my shopping later arriving home ready to cook my Boerewors only to find they were missing from my bag. I had already put the stove on, some oil in a pan and was literally ready to start cooking. I attempted to call the shop and got through on the second call, I explained that on arrival home I had noted that my meat purchase was missing from the bag full of items. The woman who answered the phone stated I am not the one who served you so I don’t know, on consulting her colleagues the man who served me told her the meat was in fact still in the store and only then did she offer a half hearted apology after I shared my disappointment in having to go back to the shop. I then had to do another 40min journey back to the shop to collect my missing items. On arrival the man who served me showed no remorse and offered no apology for the error, poor service and inconvenience. I asked for him to pack me a new bag of meat and not one that had been sat there, another man in the shop interrupted stating all of the meat was freshly made today and kept repeating it. He asked how much I had paid so I showed my receipt and he threw the old pack of meat on the counter and told the man serving to pack the new bag.nnThe exchange with the second man was quite frankly unprofessional, embarrassing and unnecessary especially because the mistake was the shops. There was no apology offered, no consideration for the inconvenience caused in me having to return to the shop when I should not have had to do so.nnTo say I am disappointed is an understatement, I went there to shop and also wanting to support a fellow Zim business owner and this is how I was treated. I hope that this is something that will be reflected on and used to improve the service. You have lost a customer as I will be taking my custom where it is respected and appreciated!
My first order online. The delivery was on time but with missing stuff inside.Tried sending email, whatsapp messages with no luck of feedback from the store.nThat was the first and last.Never again will I buy from fellow countrymen. Not worthy
I used to like shopping here until December when I placed my order and had missing items. I contacted them via WhatsApp. And was told due to it being festive things were bound to get missed and they apologised. And promised toneither send a refund or send the items January. I never received anything. I messaged and emailed. All communication has been ignored. This is not the way to treat customers. I find it's appauling and unprofessional to be honest. It's a good thing Kwajahman is back in business I know where to take my custom that is unappreciated by Mwanaka.
